Not to take the loft thread off topic

Do you have clubs that were bought in a set that you carry & don't use or just don't even carry anymore?

Could be a long iron you've swapped out for a hybrid or a wedge dropped for that '3 wedge set'

From my last set I didn't put the 3 & 4 irons in the bag and even most of the time the 5I had a weight training aid attached for practice swinging only

Recently changed irons but had very little choice of what to buy due to my decision not to pay for a set of irons with one or two clubs that I had no intention of using & even though I thought I bought wisely I'm still thinking I might stick with the previous 56 SW

I rarely use my 4Iron as I have an Adams 4iron Hybrid. I still carry the Iron though as the high hybrid flight does you no favours playing into the wind.

4 iron...
Loft is 24° but its much harder to use than my 22° hybrid.
It also goes only slightly further than my 5iron.
I have reasonable gaps between 5w, 22° hybrid and 27° 5 iron to make inclusion of the 4 unnecessary.

I also never use my 4-iron and rarely the 5-iron, because hybrids are so much easier to hit. The longest iron I find easy to hit is the 6-iron.

I could happily drop the 4-iron, though I hit it a couple of times a round at most. Most rounds, I enjoy the fact that I've used every club in the bag! Though I'd prefer to just take the SW & LW for the walk!

The Head of the 3-iron of the set is sitting on a wardrobe as a paperweight. Little use, for me, and that shaft went into the 4-iron etc when they were soft-stepped.

Use every single club I have bought - that's why I bought them.

My 'spares' bag right now has in it :-

Ping rapture V2 Driver 12 degree
Ping G5 3 wood - pro force shaft
SLDR 19degree hybrid
i15 irons
An old wilson staff hybrid - proforce v2 shaft
Ping G5 SW & LW
Odyssey 2 ball putter

These are just clubs i've had over theyears and not sold on . . . handy for when the in-law's visit from Northern Ireland and we get out for a game without worrying about hiring / sharing clubs etc.

For me the exact opposite - 4 iron is a regular and use it a hell of a lot. I carry a 3 iron and use it a couple of times a round.

Recently dropped my hybrid for a driving iron and finding that I am getting a good result from that.

For whatever reason I don't like hybrids and its not from the lack of trying.

Im my current set up the club I use least is my 3 wood followed by 58 deg wedge - the latter only used on specific shots when needed otherwise stays in the bag.

Sold my 4 iron for this reason. The X Hot hybrid is miles easier to hit, has nicer flight and more versatile. Or it could be that I sucked with the 4 iron....

Yes, my i10's were second hand and include a 3I and SW both of which have never been in the bag. I carry an old Big Bertha 3I only used off the tee and with a head almost like a hybrid it's such a big cavity and I'm a 4 wedge convert with PW from the set then 3 x specialist wedges.......the 4-PW are good though!

I no longer carry my 5 hybrid as I've eventually learned to use my 5 iron, I rarely use the 60 degree wedge I have as I am always blading it!

When I changed my clubs in the summer I took this into account - now longest iron is 6i, then hybrids before 3w. Seems to be going well as my Game Golf stats show all have a fair useage.

I only seem to use my 4 iron for chipping out from under trees :(
Cannot remember the last time i found sand so that wedge is just a bag weight.

I have owned 1, 2 and 3 irons in the past but not now. I use a 4 iron, but considering swapping the MP4 blade for a MPH5 cavity style iron.

Used to be the standard was 1, 3, 5 wood, 2 or 3 to SW, no gap wedge, and a putter.

I've got a Titliest 913F 19deg 5wood that hasn't had the headcover off for months, I bought a 21deg 913h hybrid that goes the same distance but is much more reliable direction-wise.

Must get round to sticking it in the for sale section. If anyone reads this and is interested i'm open to reasonable offers..... its in almost brand new condition, hardly been used.

I used to have a full set and the 3 and 4 never had their wrapping removed. I used the 5 briefly but then put it next to irons 3 and 4. I have since sold them and accumulated some irons from Ebay. Buying them individually meant I didn't need to buy clubs that I know I wont use so the longest iron I now own is a 6 iron.
