I was just wondering how you guys keep track of your club yardages i.e written down, memory? Also what yardage gaps do you work to between clubs and what adjustments do you make depending on the weather?

All done by memory

Mainly club up or down depending on weather or play 3/4 or punch shots

The weather is so variable that, although I have an idea in my head which club is needed for each distance, I find it hard to come up with a definite yardage for each club.

7 iron could be anywhere between 125 yards to 190 depending on the conditions, wind speed and direction, temperature, firmness/softness offers the course, where the ball will land, will it spin etc etc.

I found it a lot easier to get more specific distances in places like parts of the US where it's a constant temp with little wind.

My lengths vary a great deal at the moment due to inconsistency so I tend to use memory.
I do like the way I've seen some pros do it where they mark their yardages on the hozel with a sharpie.

Same as above really, Just memory of how far i can hit each club. I paid for a session with a launch monitor a few months back and used all my clubs, hit 15 balls with each, took the average and go with that.

I do like the way I've seen some pros do it where they mark their yardages on the hozel with a sharpie.

That sounds like an awesome idea.

All written down but to be honest only ones I need are wedge distances as full shots I will know what to use.

club up or down depending on green level and conditions

How thick does someone need to be to have to do that?

Also bought by the same golfers, those things you click every time you hit the ball if ur too dense to count :D

I have seen someone right them down on their scorecard holder

Memory, then factor in the weather, firmness of the greens, uphill/downhill, trouble long or short?

I believe the worlds No1 marks his wedges so he remembers exactly where to put his hands for wedge shots.

The best way to do it is when the grounds soft hit the ball mark the distance and measure with DMDs of course if conditions change these become useless but if its calm it will help.

A few years ago, I used to hit 40 x 7 irons 3 or 4 times a season and take my yardage.

I know what my PW goes (to within 5 yards as long as I hit it properly)... and obviously my driver goes colossal distances. I'm talking stupidly far.... like I might even hit it 240 on a good one.

anyway, my 7i goes about as far as all the real men hit their gap wedges, and then I go up and down from there.

I once owned a GW that never did less than 93 or more than 96. I sold it. Where's the fun in that. :)

My new one can do 60 yards or I can thin it 130 if I get lucky.
