Couple of questions

What do you expect from your club website ? And also what do you expect from a clubs website that you are looking to visits ?

What do people think of their clubs website

And finally does anyone have a website run by Clubsystems ?

First thing I look for is information about the course I like to look at the gallery if they have pictures of the course. Surprisingly there are quite a few web sites that don't have a lot of info about the course. Also like to see a scorecard.

If im going to a club ive never been to before I would go on their site.
I would look for a course planner and the pros tips.
Usually look at any images of the holes.

As regards to our club website theres not alot that i require from it apart from in the members area i am able to look at all the tee times for the week and book what i want, also get club and course news and information as it happens.

As for visiting other club websites i think a good visitors page is important with list of green fees, special offers (ie 4,3,2 ball offers) and all on the same page rather than roaming the website hunting them down.
Pics of the course is a nice touch, score card and and layout of the course thats something id like to see on the back of the score cards more especially when playing the course for 1st time or theres abit of a walk between tees..

I hate ours, I don't like the Club Systems template at all.

I always look for a card of the course, photographs and hole-by-hole overview although not all clubs have them. Directions on how to get there is always a small bonus.

Played at Dundonald today and I'd use their website as an example of what I'm after:

Online booking, course info and pictures, membership prices (always like to look even if I'm not considering joining). Easy to find your way about the website and it looks simple and modern.

Don't like our club site, has'nt been updated for ages and it's only in the last month that we can now book online.Site photos are years old plus no club news/no plans for future laid out or really anything to get enthused about,so why would any visitor be excited about coming to our place???

Been discussed before.

My club's could be better, but for members inside the members only section it's pretty functional and kept up to date these days.
They've got rid of a few of the glaringly out of date stuff visible straight away, but there's still entries in the 'News' section that's years out of date. And that's pretty typical of many clubs.

The very first entry of Offers though (Opens) mentions 2012, so 3 seasons old! Doesn't give a great impression! Websites should either be rigorously maintained or designed/worded so that that sort of maintenance is not actually needed - there was no need to actually mention '2012'! And again, that sort of thing is fairly typical of many Club sites (so not picking on RAGC specifically, as it seems to have the things I'd look for as a visitor.).

WRT Club Systems maintained ones, I'd suggest you tell them to sort out the performance/useability of their 'main' product before you consider using them! IntelligentGolf do a pretty good job, but they have their 'quirks' too!

Ours is shocking. It's done by one of the senior members and it really shows.
I'm hoping that over the next few months he'll hand it over to one of the younger members who will update it far more often and give it a face transplant!

I think ours is very good, lots of detail/ info and great photography. Also got an app which I use for tee & comp' booking.

It is a pretty good one

Couple of niggles that need attention but liked the webcam & flora sections which are a nice touch. Poorest bit is Visitor Rules, could do with a re-work, but overall definitely one of the better ones

I look for a very cluttered home page that looks like it has been designed by a 5 year old with lots of different fonts and coloured text. It should not have been updated for ages and must include the obligatory very prominent pictures of a bunch of old boys in nasty blazers and ties that makes it looks like an old folks home. In fact the more pictures and stories of old men in nasty blazers playing golf or holding a trophy, and the less information about the actual course, pictures of holes etc etc the better,

I then like seeing lots of rules on what you can't wear or do, and when you can't play at the start of any visitors section, before they even mention the cost or the fact that they are happy to have visitors visit. If indeed they do. Plus I like having to search a bit to find the visitors section to start with.

Also no information about the state of the course or whether it is even open is good, especially in winter. And finally under no circumstances should I be able to book online but must ring up.;)

Ours is pretty horrendous to be honest. It's not kept up to date too often and it's all designed by "senior" members of the club, who can't design for toffee.
