Club recommendations near Runcorn

I am looking at join a club in or around Runcorn or Widnes by myself as my usaual playing partner has turned somewhat unreliable!

Looking for somehwere which holds up to bad weather well, is not to stuffy and is quite sociable. I have played Frodsham but that is always busy and not accepting members at present and Sutton Hall.

Any pointers would be great

I know a lad who plays at Helsby and if he is anything to go by then the members should be spot on as the blokes sound. I am playing it in a few weeks so cannot tell you what it's like personally until then.

Which side of the bridge are you?

Frodsham is very good throughout the year, and is rarely shut. I've only played Sutton hall once and thought is was decent. There is Runcorn GC, Widnes GC and Helsby, as you say. One thing to factor in is the toll on the bridge (when eventually built), as if £1.50 a trip could put an extra £300 on your fees if you play twice a week, over a year.
