looking for some advice, have been out of the game for a while but purchased some ping g15 irons to get started back up. can hit these fine most of the time but got offered a bargain I couldn't refuse on a set of Taylormade m2's.

The problem is most of the shots are getting sliced to the right with the odd one going where I want to. just wondering if the club could maybe have to much offset for how I play or is there any other factors it could be. on the range its not to bad but on the course its a major problem and I'm thinking about buying another set of pings. or could the problem just all be in my head:confused:

thanks.

welcome to the madhouse

if youre slicing too much it will be too little not too much offset. do the 2 sets of clubs have the same shafts or different ones (both in terms of flex , weight etc?)

Thanks for the fast reply, I'm pretty sure there both regular flex but not sure on the weights will have to check tomorrow. I used to have pings before I gave up the first time and always got on with these. I get more consistent strikes with the pitching wedge and 9 iron than I do the longer irons, but always been able to hit longer irons on the pings. starting to really affect my game badly.

The first round I did with the m2's went pretty well but it was raining so didn't go to hard on the swing, soon as the weather picked up I started committing to hitting harder and thats when the problem arrived and hasn't gone away. I honestly don't know if its all in my head though thinking where the shots going to go before Iv even got the club out the bag:mmm:

if its having that effect go back to the pings, youre going to keep second guessing it, even if its not the clubs!

going to have to get another set if nothing changes just looking at all other options to sort the problem as I do like the clubs, think a lesson might be in order to see if that can sort it. definitely going to check the shafts tomorrow though.

If its your technique mate that needs sorting out probably best to save yourself some dosh have a few lessons instead of buying more clubs that may no be suitable. If I was you I would get some pro advice and a fitting,Most pros have fitting studios or go to AG or someone independent where you can try a few makes and shaft options.

the lesser offset could be having a marginal affect in shot outcome

but the main issue will be around the swing motion technique & the ways the club head is being delivered to and through impact
it's the relationship difference between the direction of the path and where the face angle is looking at impact that causes the starting direction of the ball and the subsequent curvature & height of the shot

best ways to sort it would be a trip to the pro - as the root cause is really a swing issue not a club issue - though a tad more offset may give a tad more confidence looking down at set-up

in the meantime play with the clubs that are giving the best results assuming you still have both sets

& welcome along

Sounds a though to me your getting well ahead of the ball! Perhaps you are trying to really hit them with them being newer better clubs.
When you get ahead of the ball club face opens and off the go right.

Slow the swing down, try half shots on the range so you can get your strike back.

Are the grips the same? A thicker grip could definitely have that outcome (I think!).

its a strange one, have checked the shafts and they are both regular. off to the range with both to see if the slower shots make any difference or see if the problem occurs with the pings to. funny you should mention the grips there not as good as the pings but no sure on the thickness of them. sometimes with a heavy strike the club face can end up spun round in my had but only ever so often and normally pointing inwards, suppose this could also have an affect.

Depends on what shaft the M2s came with. If it is the XP95 then there is quite a difference compared to what is in a G15.

It is worth remembering that the 7 iron in the M2s will be the same loft as the 6 iron in the G15s if you are comparing one against the other.

Booked a lesson so hopefully that might solve the problem, the shafts are r flex 88's. Because the clubs were brought threw a friend of a friend that's moved away I'm starting to think they might have been custom fitted to him and that's what the problem could be? Is there anyway of finding out if they have been other than speak to the original owner which I'm trying to get hold of. Cheers

It could be the shaft but take them to the pro and he'll give you some good advice about whether they are functional for your swing

I've got the same issue with a set of 'Speedblades' I aquired a while back...

I hit'em real nice, good distance, good strike and straight only problem is they go slightly right of target...

As far as I know this is caused by one of 3 issues, swing, lie or shaft, could be a combination of all 3 of course...

Best get checked out, that or go back to the G15's...

If you are slicing then your swingpath is left of the clubface at impact. You need to swing more out to the right with your clubface pointing more towards target. I doubt very much if its anything to do with the clubs.
