Played a different course (Milford GC) with some mates. On reaching the 12th P3, 168y off the white. I took my 6 iron as this brings it in range. The green is guarded by few bunkers in front and rough at the back. I set up with an idea of playing an 'easy 6'. Pulled the trigger harder than expected. Ball went sky high and landed before the bunker and rolled in. I just could not explain how that happened.
As I was putting the club back into the bag, I realised, I had hit a Pitcher rather than a 6i!!!!. Happy to escape with a bogie. Had I used a 6i, I would have sailed over into the rough.
Indeed feels funny that I could do with a Pitcher what I was planning to do with a 6i. All in the head. While using an extra club or a shorter club is common, anyone get away with such a wide gap?
