Looking for some advice if anyone can help. Me and my pal are looking at potentially changing clubs and looking for recommendations. My pal wants to go to Ramside, anyone got any experience of being a member there? Thanks.

Ive been told guests in hotel get prioruty over you. Where are you based?

I've been a member at wearside and just moved to Chester le street in October and its best thing I've done

Live in Sunderland centre. Currently a member at Boldon, but we did consider Wearside before we joined there. My vote was for Chester too!

South Shields for all year round golf. Most clubs nearby yesterday were closed or on temp greens. We had 18 proper greens & 18 proper tees and the fairways were dry. Every time I've played Ramside the greens have been much poorer than ours. Even Whitburn, right next door to us, was on temps yesterday.

Give me a shout if you fancy a nock around Chester some time

Heard some strange going on over boldon at the moment

I was a member at ramside for three years and enjoyed it. always got out for a game wether a sweep or in a comp or on my own for 9.
still have aome friends playing there but its been about 3 years since I played it.

Ramside Hall IMO , is a lovely course with a great set up and facilities
AND
With the addition of a new Course being constructed currently, the place will only get better

Ive NEVER encountered poor greens at the place anytime Ive played there, and I have a couple of games there most years

Theres plenty of choice in your area , so Good Luck with decision making

Phone a few, as prospective new members, Im sure some will offer reduced green fee/courtesy game , or green fee reduced from membership if u were to join, thats pretty normal

Thanks for the replies. I suppose my biggest concern is cost. Joining the Ramside would be doubling my current membership cost, and whilst I could stomach that for something brilliant I'm not sure it would be worth it. £900 per year is a lot more than most clubs in the area charge, so is it good value for money?

Only YOU can answer that mate
Nobody else would know your finances, or the amount of golf you play to equate Value

Affording it isn't a problem, and I play a couple of times a week for most of the year, dropping to once per week on average in winter. I simply meant is Ramside worth an additional £300 per year more than Chester Le Street for example?

Id say it did represent value
With 2 courses , on site driving range , nice clubhouse and facilities
But its not a Conventional type golf club, with it being hotel based, so there would be differences
Have fun choosing and let us know how u get on

Also keep in touch
the North East lads normally have a few games through the year and u would be welcome along

Excellent, think I'll head along and check it out. Until recently I lived about two miles from the place and have never been! I'd be happy to play at some sort of forum meet, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a post.

Don't think it too late for you to enter the NE King of Kings comp and there's the NE golf society page as part of the forum, though that has gone a bit quiet recently, but I'm sure once the season kicks in there'll be a few more posts in there, as well as the end of year weekend away.
