Got a fitting for the new Titleist 915 Driver, Fairway and Hybrid tomorrow, but while up at the range I noticed that they now have the new Nike Driver, Fairway and Hybrid, so it would be rude not to try them as well.

Not buying anything tomorrow, just getting the numbers against my current clubs, then waiting a couple of weeks until they get the Mizuno kit in as it's the Mizuno kit I'd really like to work well for me. If I'm honest it's the blue crown that's done it for me, black and white are so last year :)

Dave,
Where u going to test these out at....??

Close House. They have the full range of heads and shaft for Titliest, not sure what they have for the Nike gear, I just noticed the heads in passing the fitting bay. One of the staff up there told me as well that their training bay is going to be decked out in full Mizuno logo, so Close House will be an authorised Mizuno fitter. They also have a Mizuno Day on the 11th March.

I'm just back with my shiny toy :D

Also tried the 915 v nike vapour pro, first time on a launch monitor too, quite surprised at my SS,

Any way ended up with the nike , bring on tomorrows game :fore:

Good luck with your fitting

which was?

Did you try the Mizuno as well? what did the Nike have over the Titleist?

I wouldn't go in with any preconceptions about which brand, chose the one that works. but do it over 2 or 3 sessions as your ropey swing changes with the wind :)

(sez Fragger who's own swing resembles an Octopus having a fit falling out of a tree :)

Did try the R15 (far to spinny) but not the mizzy, the 915 did have similar no's to the nike although the vapour pro seemed more consistant and possibly forgiving, both set at 9.5 , stiff shaft, SS was 115, i've always played titleist woods but just didn't feel the vibe with the 915.

H'mm! I hope you took you 'old' driver with you to calibrate the LM! That's faster than most (top third) of PGA Tour Pros!

My gsa pro gives me an average of 105 so i'll take all the numbers with a pinch of salt.
Dispersion was the main factor for me today and i came away feeling that the vapour was the right club for me, time will tell, if not keep your eyes on the for sale section :D

Have fun Dave
Be interested to see how they compare
So post back with your results

What's the cost for a fitting at CH.....??
Is it flightscope, GC2.....??

First up, they use Trackman up at Close House

In short, hit my Titleist 913 Driver and Hybrid, along with my Callaway Big Bertha 3 Fairway, the numbers were where I expected them, knowing my swing, it being cold and windy.

First up was the new Titleist gear and for all three I was up on swing speed and up on yardage, on the long side about 15yds, but on average 12yds longer on all three clubs.

I hadn't thought about the Nike gear, but it was new in the fitting room, so new, they still had the delivery wrapping on them, so I christened them, they looked really good behind the ball and felt really good hitting them, but in my hands I couldn't get them to fly a ball the same distance as the Titliest.

I gave the TM R15 Driver a go as well just to satisfy my curiosity more than anything and it came no where close to the Titleist either.

My stats are now stored and I wait now for the Mizuno 850 range to arrive, get some numbers from the fitting day and how they compare to the Titleist.

Never understand comments like this. Did you try the TP shaft in the R15 as the standard shafts are designed to get it airborne. I compared the R15 to my SLDR and put my Black Tie in it. Spin dropped instantly and it was going very nicely.

We're you impressed with his Close House looked after you? I have a mate thinking about going there for a fitting and your experience sounds a good one.

£25 for a hour fitting, they have Ping G30's, Nike, Taylor Made, Callaway (I think), Mizuno (though not the new 850 metals yet, due in any time), fitting is done on Trackman, but you're also firing balls down range, not into a net. The guys up there are very knowledgeable, they all attend fitter courses for all the makes they fit and are all PGA pros.

Although I'm not a member at Close House I use the range a lot, so you get to know the people up and they are all friendly, well worth, plus if after your fitting you buy a club from them you get the fitting price off the club, pretty standard for most places and the prices are pretty good as well. I think it was mentioned tonight that he 915D3 was in at £329 with the Fairway and Hybrid £199

Make sure you are comparing apples with apples when you hit the Mizuno gear in March. Youve got stats on a cold windy day for the Titlest, Nike but come March, the conditions might be sunny, warm and downwind. Suggest you hit them all again in the next session.

The conditions will no doubt be different, the fitting today was to give me an idea on if the new clubs were going to make any difference. Yes technology is wonderful, but I cannot hit a TM club, fitted or otherwise, that aside, as I mentioned above the new Titleist do offer me more distance over my current clubs and they did feel really nice while hitting balls.

The March Mizuno day is with a Mizuno fitter and all the gear Mizuno have to offer, their swing DNA profile etc, but I think before then Close House will have in the 850 metals, so I'll be able to try a stock Drive, Fairway and Hybrid, so I'll have a reasonable idea if they are going to work for me. The idea then is to use the Mizuno day to get the right shaft and optimum settings. I'll then be able to have a final fitting at Close House and test both the Titleist and Mizuno clubs with the shafts and settings as gathered on the test days and then as you say compare both side by side in the same conditions.

Nice
I will be doing similar when all new gear is in at Silvermere...and its warmer!

All important that you get the right guy there imo. Heard a few poor stories about sessions there where the fitter hasn't been up to scratch, though there are/have been definitely good guys there in the past!
