Firstly hello to you all, been reading this forum for a while now and wonder if any of you can help.

I am fairly new to golf, this being my first year as a member at a golf club with a handicap in the mid teens which is getting (hopefully) lower. My question is now I have already bought my clubs is it possible to have them custom fit to me or would I have to buy a brand new set.

I have seen taylormade do a 'club calibration' at wentworth for a £100 which I am considering. Just wanted to know if I'd be wasting my money or not?

Thanks in advance.

You can, it will be along the lines of what you have said and you would pay a premium if you wanted the shafts changed that would probably make it prohibitive cost wise. Loft, length, lie angle all worth doing and I would think can be done much cheaper than £100 unless you have to make the shaft shorter or longer and there for have to re grip.

Thanks for the response, I did think £100 sounded a bit steep, I just looked at Taylormade as they're the make of clubs I own. I assume somewhere like american golf or direct golf could probably do it a bit cheaper.

Personally I would look for an independent club fitter/maker.

Where abouts are you based? There are a lot of independent club fitters around.

I recently went to Golf DNA in Surbiton (near Kingston, Surrey) Laurence is a great guy.

I've now started my lessons with one of the pros there too and making a HUGE difference to my game!

As others have said, it is possible but limited to loft / lie / length / grip diameter depending on the club. For most brands, shaft replacement is not worth it.

Are you particularly tall / short / big or small hands / fast or slow swingings (what is 7i carry?) etc? A route to consider if it was really worrying you would be to go for a custom fit for new irons, take existing along as a baseline and see how big the gap is between what you have and what is recommended both in terms of spec but perhaps more importantly, result in terms of ball on target as that is what matters! You can then judge how much effort / cash to plough into this.

I have just completed a fitting having been playing for 3 yrs regularly and going from 23 - 13 with 'standard' clubs. Do a search on my posts for a review of the process if it is of interest.

Either way, welcome to the forum and most importantly enjoy your golf!

I'm from just outside Woking. In the bag I have:
TM R1
TM SLDR 3 Wood
TM RBZ Hybrid
TM Rocketbladez 4-SW
TM ATV 50*
I'd say I'm average height/hand size with a fast speed swing 7i carry is around 160. I think if I'm honest I'm just looking for a quick fix to play better. Just wish I'd paid that little bit extra to get custom fit when I origanally bought the clubs.

Welcome!

As you'e based in Surrey I would definitely recommend Golf DNA. (http://www.golf-dna.co.uk/) good value and great service.

I'm from Wokingham and its well worth the travel! The lessons on their G2C system are awesome too!
