Had a meeting at our club last night to have BRS system explained to us. We have never needed to book times at all except for competitions. Some members were dead against BRS before the meeting but a number were more positive after the advantages were explained.

According to the guy who gave the demo 97% + clubs stay with the system once implemented. Has anyone's club recently gone over to a booking system? Was it implemented for visitors &/or competitions & /or casual games? How was it received by the members?

My club (mid yorkshire) use it for both members, visitors and weekend comps. I think its great, easy to use and can book in anywhere with the app

The brs system is great, no need for balls in the chute, no need for sheets of paper etc etc. It's superb.

If people have regular roll ups the club can blank out times.

There is nothing to not like.

If you know who you are going to play with and when its great, if you like just to pop up and pick up a game not so great imo. Keeps people in the same groups more often and in our case has led to the club selling cheap visitor tee times in what used to be the best times to play.

Before it was introduced could pretty much get a game whenever, now theres often blocks of 3 or 4 hours where its fully booked out in advance (mainly mid week mornings), has marginalised a fair few members.

Personally would much prefer to be somewhere without it

I moved from a club with no system, you just turn up, to one with brs. I wouldn't go back now. You know where you are with it. You book your time, it's yours. No more turning up and finding five groups ahead of you on the tee.

That is how the club has chosen to set it up though. It's not a problem with the BRS system.

We've had an email to say our club is looking to move to BRS too, Heworth Golf Club. They're gonna look at popular times for roll ups and block these out.
It was looked at before or something similar, but it was objected to as members thought they wouldn't get a game when wanted, but in truth it was more down to a poor presentation.
Can't really see a difference between rolling up and finding a few people on the tee when a reservation can't be made. If you know when you're gonna play then book a spot, that way you're not greeted by 9 people on the tee. If you fancy a roll up check before so you know it's free, instead of rolling up and having to wait 30 mins.
Our club will be looking to use this to maximise income by groupon offers etc as and when quiet times dictate.

As has been discussed before, at some clubs it works well and at others it's not necessary.
MiB - what are the reasons for wanting to look at BRS..?

Personally, I love it.....

This is the key to the whole thing.

Some of the stuff i read on here about how clubs operate/set up the system beggars belief and I wouldn't like it.

It's in place at our club and, in fairness to them, they have pretty much nailed how it works as it causes no problems for comps, social golf, roll up's etc and still free times that you can rock up and play.

It really is all about how the system is set up

Bill ave just rung one of the lads re summat, he said glad you have rung, can you play Friday. Two mins later I have booked a tee time. It's that good?

My only gripe is my club haven't set up the ability to draw comps, doesn't bother me that much but it doesn't help new members integrate IMO.

yeah, you'll get a few naysayers but on the whole its great. i'd never join a club that doesnt have online booking. all the stuff about not being able to turn up and play is just guff. Its better as I can look and see exactly whats going on, if there is a society out for example or the seniors have comp.

It's initially going to be used for comps & to control times for visitors. Guy doing demo said that at his club they did this & the members asked to have it made available to them full time

we still do drawn comps, notice goes up and you put your name in the time block you'd like. Works well.

What do you do for midweek comps using Brs?

As the busiest times are usually when people finish work so there will only be limited slots rather than just turning up and waiting?

We used to have trouble with our Shotguns being under subscribed as weekend golfers wanted to play with their mates and indeed had some cancelled but this year you can now book in as a 4 and then your tee is drawn. Has worked really well with all tees full and the par 3's and 5's doubled up.

Having joined 3 clubs not knowing anyone the one where I've integrated better is the one with BRS, so easy to get a game, see a slot and join them. Remember at one of the other clubs hanging around the 1st tee for an hour as 4 ball after 4 ball rolled up !!

Yep it's used for booking into comps at ours (again set up well).

Helped me when I joined as you can tag yourself into groups wherever there is a space etc so I played with/met a load of different folk that way.
