Woosnam had a 2 shot penalty for a club too many in his bag, should it be a 2 shot penalty if you come back in with one (or more) less?

Surely we'd like to see stuff like this stopped? (yes, it's funny to watch but hardly an example when us club golfers start doing it)...

Seeing Sergio or Stenson do it seems to make people think it's OK to do this....

Maybe snapping one over your knee might also be included as a penalty?

Not sure if you just chuck one on the floor but a club count at the end would be a start.

Yep I am game for that.... Have some self control. Its bad sportsmanship!

Maybe we should have two shot penalty for smokers on the tee!!!

Good idea. Not sure about the 2 shot pen though, Plus you can break a club by accident. How about a yellow and red card set up. Say 3 yellows in a round then a red. Mainly for the pro's as all matches have a rules ref with them I belive(not sure on that). As for the guy in the vid. He should be thrown in for dressing like that. Dont know how wide the pond was, but a bit far for an iron I would have thought(well for me anyway.)

Would it not stop things like this one of Sergio? I'm not sure how hard it would be to make that an instant penalty seeing as he's coming back with one less club....

far rather penalties for slow play were utilised before looking for futile ways to penalise players, the odd club chuck really isnt that harmful to the game compared to the example the likes of Ben Crane and Jason "all" Day are setting week in week out

No for me. I never get angry on the course and it does annoy me when my playing partners throws hissy fits.

My reasons for saying no are it would be quite hard to enforce and I think there's probably a few areas where it could be a bit grey. I can't see how you could have a rule wording that wouldn't penalise the following:

- If the grounds dry and I'm playing out of a bunker I'll occasionally chuck my wedge to the side of the bunker whilst I rake the bunker. Would this count as a penalty as sometimes I will do it when I've hit a great shot but I could just as easily do it when I've hit a bad shot

- Sometimes you see pro's who know they had a bad swing and they know before even completing it that the ball is going to go wildly left or right and they drop the club at the top of the swing. The club is only falling at their feet and its out of disappointment but I don't think its throwing a tantrum and they shouldn't be penalised for it.

The only occasion I think it probably could be enforced is in line with the rule of breaking a branch from a tree. If someone is angry after a shot and breaks a tee marker, takes a divot out of a green or damages a bunker then they should get a penalty.

Tennis players get warnings for equipment abuse, same should apply to Golfers where there are referees involved, we all see the red mist now and again, a warning should be enough, do it again within the same tournament and 2 shot penalty would be fair imo as its not pleasant to watch and certainly not pleasant for their playing partners

But how do you distinguish the two in a rulebook? ...you will receive a 2 shot penalty if you throw your club but only if it lands somewhere you won't get it back

you will receive a 2 shot penalty if you throw your club but only if you don't then retrieve it :) LOL

as my da woluld say, if serigo had to pay for that club he would be more carefull with it. very childish behaviour. a pal of mine hit a bad pitch one day and threw his wedge at his stand bag. it bent one of the legs and snaped the shaft of the club in half. he tells me he regrets this now as it was a wedge from a set and he just isnt hitting a replacement well at all.
