Evening all,
Club Champs over for another year. Conditions a little windier today - possibly trickier, although I'm not sure it doesn't actually make it a little easier with some of the downwind opportunities it presents.
Anyway, after yesterday's poor putting display, I was in the shed yesterday afternoon on gardening duty (payback time), and spotted my Heavy Putter staring at me from the discard pile, pleading, "give me another chance!". I succumbed, stuck a new grip on it, got there early for a bit of putting practice today and decided to give it a whirl.
The upshot was I didn't play as well as yesterday, but putted a little better, and ultimately ended up with the same score of... 77.
It would seem 5 people guessed the correct score of 154 (Homer, GrumpyJock, Feary, Region 3 and Junior - though he came up with 76 and 77 equalling 154 somehow!), and one man got the tiebreak spot-on and that was... GrumpyJock. Many congratulations, and commiserations to those who lost out on the tiebreak.
So, Grumpy, send me a PM with your home address and I'll get your prize out as promised - just need to go through my Pentas first and find the least scuffed-up three to send you! Alternatively, if you're at Beau Desert I'll bring them up there?
Thanks for getting involved - same time, same place next year?

Came 2nd, 7 shots behind the winner.
It's only a small club and I think I'm the second lowest handicap so I guess that's where I should have finished!
Played with the winner and he was very steady and holed everything from 5-10ft yesterday which was the key difference really.
I was 6 behind overnight and after drifting to 8 behind early on today, did manage to close it just 4 at the turn when he hit it in the water on 9. But four bogeys early on the back nine (lucky to limit it to that really after a couple of woeful shots!) killed off any faint lingering hopes.

What does that do for your handicap Jezz? A couple of holds or a break? Up point one?

Up 0.1 both rounds I believe, Craw - SSS 70 and CSS didn't go up either round so just two more poor round away from 6!

I've got a feeling that your in for a tough week at work with a rather happy wide grinning editor floating about the office!!!! :D :D

Especially after your prediction of 99 with a flake in it!!! :D Unlucky Jezz, thanks for the comp idea made for some interesting viewing over the weekend from you and Mike.

Grumpyjock, would you mind sharing with us the exact outcome of the Ryder Cup so I can lay a few quid on that! :D

Alright then a tie is at 11/1 with Paddy Power, just need to negotiate a loan so I can put down £10,000 :D

Thanks GJ your cheque will be in the post when my winnings come in and hopefully that will turn you into a Happy Jock :D
