A lot of clubs had their club champs yesterday or maybe over this weekend, do we have any club champs amongst us who have just won this season?

If your still to play over the next couple of weeks, how do you fancy your chances?

This is not aimed at the nett salvers, this is for the best gross score club champs over 36 holes, usually reserved for 9 handicap or less, so come on stand up and give us a bow.

Ours was last weekend and for the second year running I'm suffering 35*C in southern Italy - missed it again.

Our club champs don't work like that up here. 3 qualifying rounds with 2 best scores out of 3 counting to determine top 15 plus last year's champ who then play match play knockout over a week in August to find the club champ. And two comps side by side, gross and net champs with gross being the biggie of course.

Ours is similar. 36 hole qualifiers Sat/Sun, then knockouts though the week, with scratch and h/c sections running concurrently. And it was played a month ago.

I managed to qualify for the scratch knockouts (lot of guys playing in the qualifier who couldn't play the knockouts) and got spanked 5&4 in the first round. I went out in +3 and was 3 down - couldn't live with the guy.

I'm pretty sure FD won hers for the 4th time on the bounce recently, when she was in the midst of burning up every course she set foot on...

Mine's in 3 weeks. Can only play on the sat as I'm off on me hols on sun.

Got nae chance anyway but the last two years I've had a little cut on the sat.

Ours is done and dusted for another season...

4 divisions, 36-hole best gross score with top-8 in each division going into knockouts with a 36-hole final. I was 7th in the division and made the final only to lose out on the last green by missing a 4-footer to take the match into extra holes. :(

ours was also done about z month ago, 36 holes of stroke play the 3 rounds match play with the scratch being the only one you get your name up in the club.

Won this year by a 16 year old off +3 who's since won 2 big comps in Scotland and is now off +4.

how can you enter a 36 hole comp if you know you can only play 18,if you did that at my club you get a 3 comp ban,are you taking a place from someone else ?

Because there is a 36 hole comp over the weekend with a cut. I'll tell the club before hand, they'll be fine.

There is a cup for best nett and gross on the sat as a stand alone comp.

I imagine your club is slightly different to mine. There's no pressure on places in the club champs, over 50% of our membership is senior, of which only a few will play.

Unlike you to jump to conclusions without being in full possession of the facts :o

Lol!!

Same format for ours and, yes, I won it.

:whoo:

Had to rearrange ours and the new date in August I can't play as I have to go to a 5 year old's birthday party. Aren't I lucky.

Strangely, ours is early September...........not sure why.
I suppose it's after the holidays and the theory goes that there will be more entrants.
36 holes over 2 days, I think round 1 is drawn, round 2 is highest scores first out.
Gross obviously wins but there is a nett prize too.
I probably won't be playing

Ours is on third Saturday in Sept.

Committee in their wisdom changed it last year that you have to qualify in your division to play in it. Main prize is the gross but only 18 holes :( Others are nett winners I believe.
Reasons for changing, so there is a better atmosphere in the clubhouse at end of the day
