Seems like this is the weekend for Club Champs reading other posts. We have ours, Gibbo & Ian_S have theirs.

Good luck to you both and everyone else who has theirs this weekend, be sure to let us know how you got on :D

Good luck to all in their champs.

Comp free weekend for me which is unusual but looking forward to it. We played the semi finals of a county inter club competition yesterday (foursomes - teams of 3 pairs) and had to go to an extra hole which we lost to a birdie - gutted. All comped out!!

Centenary comps for us this weekend, and a forum team of me, Therod, Swinger and PNWokingham will hopefully be putting up a good show in the AM/AM comp on Sunday.

cheers Hawkeye, good luck to all forumers

weather forecast is for heavy rain around lunchtime plus its 27 holes and as a club made up of predominantly seniors I reckon they will drop like flies after 18 :D

I'm out early so hoping to miss most of the rain. Sunday looks good though for round 2

Hoping I might miss the most of the rain due in around lunchtime and hoping it is light and showery if it comes in the morning. You can only do what you can do on the day. I'm going out relaxed, positive and with a plan but a clear mind. Make the cut is the first requirement and then see how low I can go Sunday.

Had ours last weekend. Not a lot of low hc's at our place so I had an outside chance.

Shot 79-78 to finish 3rd on countback (splitting a 3 and 4 hc) but 10 behind the 3hc winner who scored 74-73.

My target was 2 rounds in the 70's so chuffed to bits, especially to finish in the prizes as well.

I'm totally over the air shot in the second round that ended up costing me 2nd place! :o

well as per recent form I was shocking, I mean utterly shocking! I now cant swing anything without wondering if I will even make contact. Not in a good place right now so gonna have a couple of weeks break as its getting on my mammaries.

No such competition at my club if your a 10 handicapper or above, its only for single handicaps!

78 Gross for me, leaving me 7 shots off the pace.
4, 3 putts and 2 double bogies put paid to my chance's after a good start, several pints on the patio afterwards convinced me golf isn't all it's cracked up to be .:whoo:

If it makes you feel better mate we dont either. You need to be top 12 gross average over the season then its a matachplay playoff from there.

Would love to have a go at a 36 hole club champs even if its off scratch etc.

Got into the 2nd round tomorrow. Shot net 72 (+2) including a triple bogey on a par 3 followed by a triple on the par 4 next (13th and 14th) and a couple of doubles so could have been right in the mix for the gross and net prizes. Off my handicap I realistically need to have two consecutive career days and always consider the gross champion as THE club champion, but the handicap prize does give the other members a prestigious goal to shoot for. As the net prize is actually called a separate name after an ex-member I means there are two gold letter boards so both the gross and net winners get their moment of glory recorded for posterity

Well it was an absolute shocker for me. Started by hitting my tee shot up against a tree trunk and then 3-stabbed for treble. Hit my tee shot on two OB and made double. Tee shot on 3 went in a bunker from where I hit a decent shot but bounce through the green into the back of another bunker with no shot and ended with another double and there I am 7 over through 3 holes and chasing my tail somewhat. Almost got to the turn in decent shape before hooking my drive into the clag on 9 and took another treble

Tried to rally on the back 9 and got to the 16th having dropped only 2 more shots. Hit a huge drive down 16 and then missed the green miles right, failed to get up and down then bogey 17&18 for a Nett 80.

The bad start didn't help but in truth I didn't hit my irons well enough, chip well enough or putt anywhere close to well enough. I'm better then that, much much better than that

Well played on the two rounds in the seventies, good consistent golf.

Details please! ;)

A tee shot ended up under a small bushy tree in a position that only a left hander could play at. 2 club lengths wouldn't move it far enough to give a shot at the green so turned my 6 iron the wrong way round and tried to bunt it out with a lh swing. I missed the ball with my first try!

Our divisional championships yesterday, and the 36 hole scratch next week.

Down wind going out, typical links, and into a hooley coming back. Out in 37, 1 over, and a measure of the wind saw me hit driver 7 iron 2nd shot into a 500yd par 5. Back 9 was... interesting, and I enjoyed the cider after the round. Back in 43 - partly due to the wind and partly because I was rubbish. 83-6=74, 2 over. CSS was 74. 70 won.

36 holes next week? Not for me. Bad back and we've got plenty of + & scratch handicappers at the club to suggest I won't get anywhere near the top 3.
