Many thanks for all the score predictions - some slightly flattering, others less so!
Anyway, round one has been and gone. Perfect conditions for golf - bright, sunny and no breeze at all until the back nine.
Pretty much shot what I was anticipating I guess - not brilliant but not too depressing, and could have been a lot better if the flatstick had behaved from 5-8ft (four or five went begging).
Got there early enough to hit a few on the range and actually 'found' something that dramatically improved my ball-striking for 90% of the round.
Likely to be 6 behind and probably too far back for tomorrow, but you never know - golf's a funny old game (much like every other sport).
Nearly forgot - the score was (cue drum roll)... 77
Good luck to anyone still in with a shout of the Penta balls and pens tomorrow!
