Popped out for a cheeky few holes today, as time was short I only went to our 9 holes course.

Met a friend up there and off we went, played poorly until the 3rd, 150 yard par3, it was down wind and playing 140.

I hit a 7 iron, looked dam good from the tee, landed on the green and my friend was going mad, shouting "its in the b*%^"y hole" I wasn't sure but it did look good.

I walked to the green, a little faster than normal and with the old ticker going 20 to the dozen, got there only to find this..

Gutted was an under statement, been playing for 27 years and that's the closest I have even been to an ace.

O well never mind the hunt goes on.

P.S if anyone was wondering, yes I did make to putt for a birdie

I got the closest I'd ever been to a hole in one last night whilst on a cheeky 9 holes with my mate:

Not as close as your though! Good shooting!

Out for 18 last night, on the 17th with the sun setting I hit Par 3 161yds 8 iron,

The time to hit an ace is late evening, bar is nigh on empty, cheap round :D, nice shooting though.

Unbelievable.

You only hit a 7 iron 150 down wind.:)

Unlucky. I saw my first hole in one last week in a Society day at my club. I am still waiting after 40 years, and more par 3's are getting out of range now.:(

Unlucky that's so close great effort but must have left you feeling a bit narked.

How did you feel when you realised there was a penalty for using your phone on the course? :D

Cheers all, I did wait my 10 seconds for it to drop but nothing.

Now here is a question about what I did next....

I marked and repaired the pitch mark, which was on the edge of the hole, did I break any rules in doing so ?? I was just thinking Im sure there is a rule saying you cant repair any damage to a hole !! Would be just my luck to be DQ as well as not getting an ace.

It was only a knock about but i did take my mate for £3:50 and a pint

Had one a couple of weeks ago - worst tee shot of the day :D

Thin 9 iron hit the bottom of a tree and rocketed onto the green and smashed into the pin :D
