Another club related question... Have the opportunity to buy a second hand set of Cleveland TA7 irons gunmetal finish for £137. Clubs are apparently pretty much as good as new. Is this a good deal? From a previous thread some may know the other option I was looking at was a new set of MD super strong irons for about the same price. Which one of these are the better club? I'm a beginner but have read that both clubs should be suitable.

Thanks.

I'd say that's a bit pricey. They are a good few models out of date now. If they are in really good nick, I'd go to a ton.

Incidentally, great clubs. I really liked mine when I had a set

agree with robo. Good but slightly overpriced. I have a newer set of clevelands (cg7) which are also excellent and easy to use. I wouldn't be happy about paying more than £100 for them second hand even though they are at least a couple of models more recent.

From what I understand, the ST2s are Super Game Improvement irons and the TA7s are 'players' ones (whatever that means) so not aimed at the same market segment.

If you know what you want, you can pick up the TA7s quite a bit cheaper on Ebay too, but that price is between auction prices and Buy-it-Now ones.

I'd suggest you decide what sort of irons you want first, then find out what's available. Seems to me you are going from the other direction. And there's no substitute for trying some out first either.
