Was out today and it chucked down with rain and was very muddy I brought a new set of BenRoss waterproofs a couple of months ago and they now have mud on them, should I just use a sponge with water or soapy water.
Thanks

Washing machine and tumble dryer does the job for me.

I would recommend checking the label inside them, mine are machine washable. I always check labels when buying clothes as I don't want a complicated cleaning routine or to accidentally buy something dry clean only!

label say's they are machine washable and cool tumble dry but I was under the impression that if I did this I would have to re waterproof them,

Washing machine and drip dry if really bad - wipe down with a wet sponge if just a little muddy.

That's what I've always thought. I run mine through 2 washing machine cycles without using detergent or washing powder and they come up spotless.

Take yourself through a car wash to ensure you get a good deep clean

I own Proquip waterproof wear. machine washable but not suitable for the tumble dryer I would suggest you wash them on a cool (30*) wash and then dry on the line or over the bath

I understand that I can wash or sponge dirty marks off them but what I don't know is,is the fabric waterproof or is it a coating on the fabric that make them waterproof and by washing do I need to re waterproof or not. As Benross state that they have a two year waterproof guarantee.

if it ssays machine washable you have your answer. I have never reproofed mine

You could do this, stolen from here: http://sewaholic.net/how-to-tell-if-your-fabric-is-waterproof/

Water test. Literally, drip water on the fabric and see what happens. If it soaks through and spreads (much like a paper towel) then it’s not waterproof! If the water stays on the surface of the fabric, looking like big dewdrops or bubbles, then it’s waterproof. Leave these water bubbles on the fabric for a while and see if they eventually soak into the fabric or stay on the surface.

I'd just sponge the worse of it off but to be honest at this time of year they are only going to get mud on them again. I'm not that fussed and wouldn't risk washing them in case I made them non-waterproof. They currently do a fantastic job in the heaviest of rain so happy not to tinker with them
