I had been using a Titleist 909 D2 for many years but late last year I saved some pennies and got myself a 913 D2.

In truth I have not fallen in love with it but damn it is a pretty driver and it is playing its way in.

Yesterday I got too far forward in the range bay and on my follow though I clapped it into the girder that holds the roof up on the range... my bro yelped and grabbed his head, we both gathered round the head.... Crown fine, face, fine... Did I get away with this? Sole fine... Big fat ugly dent in the toe.... GUTTED. Paint did not split, face did not deform... Its a good bad one!

Big shame but pretty hidden. I have a tendency to hate damaged thing but it plays just as badly as it did not nothing lost is there....? :mmm:

Ouch!

Something similar happened at the range I use a little while back.

Caugh the upright on the way through and snapped the shaft on a hybrid, just above the hosel.

I was 2 or 3 bays down. Heard the thud/clang. Then saw a hybrid head spinning across the range in front of me

It was a lovely looking high draw he hit too :D

Unlucky there Al'

just your pride Alex:whistle:

My Bro and I were competing for accuracy so as soon as I had given myself a cuddle I asked him where the ball had gone... "not a clue" he replied, I got a mulligan and slotted the next one directly down the neck of our target to win the point...

HID said 4 words... "Not until next year". I consider that a good thing as I usually keep a driver longer than that!

Isn't the ruling that a dented driver that happened before a round is illegal for competition use? Seem to remember the big issue being the wording of the rules, and whether the dent affected the playability and hence conformance of the club.

Nope, you know on your 910 where it says Titleist on the toe, its just below that, starts just after the face and the size of a 5 pence.

BTatHome... Just forwarding your post to my Mrs...:D

In reality I have no clue but controversially I shall not be bringing it to anyone like that's attentions.

c. Damage Prior to Round
A player may use a club damaged prior to a round, provided the club, in its damaged state, conforms with the Rules.

Damage to a club that occurred prior to a round may be repaired during the round, provided the playing characteristics are not changed and play is not unduly delayed.

As long as you've not made it non-conforming by enlarging the head / messing with the face etc you're fine.

Nice one...

I keep reading stuff like this, I am paranoid when I go to the range, I move the mat up to the wall and slow my swing to see if it touches anything ... Can it be repaired?

No, the paint did not split but because you cant get into the head it cant be pushed out. My bro did it the week before at another range... Ripped the paint off the top of the head... shame really, he feels compelled to buy my old driver.

I was pushing a real tee into the front of the mat, If I had just used the rubber tee in the middle of the mat I could not have hit the girder.

I am paranoid when I go to new ranges I've not used before. When I started using Lavender Park near Ascot last year I ensured my mat was well over to the right of the bay. If the ranges have Powertee I have to trust that they are in the right place. I did smack a Cleveland three wood at a range a long time ago and put a similar dink in it. I couldn't see it at address but it niggled. I was changing the driver not long after so used it as an excuse to HID to lose the 3 wood for a new model too.

Its going to niggle!! but I am going to be a big boy and pretend its not there for a while...

Oh dear Al :( this isnt going to sit well with you is it (time to scour ebay for a head only sale ;) )

Nope, not this time bud, I am going take a leaf out of your book and pretend that my golf gear is a tool and not a price of art and crack on...... But ye, you know I have no love for that driver now....
