I see they are talking about re-building The Crystal Palace at Bromley.
What a great idea.
In it's time it was the 8th wonder of the world.

I read up on its designer Joseph Paxton after my wife did some family history on Chatsworth. [Her ancestor took over from Paxton as head gardener]

Paxton was an amazing Victorian engineering hero who sees to have slipped under the radar.
I hope this effort goes ahead, I know there is a few posters from that area so it would be interesting to see their views.

Seriously Paxton is well respected amongst civil engineers

I look forward to a lot of good natured banter on the day mate; I'm afraid you hung your chin out with that one and I have absolutely no self control where an opportunity like that's concerned. ;)

Sod that - spend the money on Fortress Selhurst - the only Crystal Palace worth spending money on!!! :thup:

To me, Palace have never been the same since they dropped the claret and blue stripes of the late '60s / early 70s.
Until recently, I never knew they played in gold shirts for a season or two, adopted because it was their lucky away shirt.
