I see the bed wetters are all over this one

He flirts with presenter live on tv and all hell has broke loose

Talking to Missis T about this one, she reckons if that's what she is like he got off light by not going on a date with her.
He was fined close on 5k for that, I thought sport wanted characters.

I thought it was completely unprofessional and he is clearly a bit of a muppet. Apparently he has done it plenty of times before with no contrition. Very poor.

If you condone it, you are part of the same problem in society in my view.

So a sportsman gets interviewed by an attractive woman, compliments her on her eyes and says if the team win she may like to join him for a drink, she brushes him off and they talk cricket for the remaining 20 seconds of an interview that lasted 30 seconds.
Just exactly what has he done wrong, if anything he's made himself look like a tool.
All this over reaction is typical of all that's wrong with modern society, people need to lighten up

Totally agree! granted maybe he could have asked her out off air. But it was light hearted flirtation. Do we honestly not believe woman flirt with men in any walk of life when inappropriate? Do t recall any on here complaining of that.

What he did was flirt with a woman on live tv very poorly, and yes he made himself look a bit of a plank. But to fine him for that, eh?

The BBC has done a bit of a piece on this showing that he was not the first.
Now the worst and by a country mile is Sepp Blatter, his comments on women's football were disgraceful. Yet he never lost his job or was fined.
The best bit though is where a woman tennis player is being interviewed and she asks the reporter to repeat the question. why ? Because she says he has beautiful eyes. Can't remember her being fined.

LOL sooooo funny.............oh you're not kidding

Interesting one. Poor judgement, yes and yes he looked an idiot. Equally, male sports team create a very male environment in the same way womens do. What is the chatter like in a female changing room when you have a hockey, football or rugby team in there? I have come across many female hockey teams in bars after games and the chatter is as strong as in male teams but simply reveresed. If you then throw in a male reporter into a female environment or a female reporter into a male environment then it can surely only be asking for the odd "issue".

These sportsmen are players for hire. They live in hotel rooms and get bored. Any chance to liven things up and they take it. This went wrong but the hysteria is pathetic. Laugh it off, leave him to look foolish and move on.

Think Gayle's been a bit daft but seemed fairly harmless fun to me, flirting is part of human nature. Imagine if everyone gave interviews like Tiger Woods!

Got to love these threads. Seems to be quite a few people on here that would love the world to be a very boring place.

Can't understand why people on the thread are so upset... Completely inappropriate behaviour under the circumstances and, in the context of his undoubtedly high big bash wage, he probably got off more lightly than most of us would in our more mundane jobs.

I don't recall the same level of outrage when Maria Sharapova flirted with a male journalist almost 2 years ago. Her response to one question was "What was the question again, I was just admiring your form".

It's not misogyny or sexism, it's just cringeworthy, awkward flirting and incredibly unprofessional. The "don't blush baby" line was just awful to watch. To be fair to Gayle, it was made worse by her awkward reaction, if she'd played it off or had a laugh with him it'd have appeared completely different and he'd have looked like less of a dick.
