Hi all

I may be moving to an area south of Taunton in Somerset.

I could choose to play at the following Taunton and Pickeridge, Windwhistle, Long Suton, Taunton Vale or maybe Yeovil.

Do any of you here have any recomendations.

Thanks in advance.

Yeovil is very good (27 holes)
Long Sutton OK but not brilliant
Windwhistle not great
Don't know about the others

Oake Manor is quite a pleasant track, it's close to Taunton. If you are looking over towards Yeovil, that is another decent track and close to that is Sherborne. I'd say both pretty similar in quality but for me Sherborne shades it. Enmore Park is fairly close to Taunton also, another one you might want to consider.

Taunton Pickeridge would be my favourite out of those choices

Oake Manor, and Enmore are also pretty nice

You could go for Burnham and Berrow, just a bit further up the road

The best course(s) in the area (B&B has a 9 hole & 18) , and its my home course :D

Another cider swigger joining the ranks!

Oake Manor is a cracking track - between Wellington and Taunton.

Yeovil is also a nice course - quite a trek from Taunton though - do you know exactly where you are going to be based?

Windwhistle isn't the greatest course by far, but often has cheap green fee deals for a whack around with a couple of mates off an evening.

Long Sutton is another nice course - not the best in the world - but good value for money IMO.

It depends on what you want.

For club golf, Long Sutton is a long course which can be quite difficult however it has been ravaged by the weather and flooding over the winter where the River Parrett flooded the tenth, (a temporary green is in use). That said it is a friendly club and not bad value for money.

Windwhistle is a decent course that does have a few tricky holes and slopes.

Wheathill is a very good course, especially for those new to the game that offers value for money.

Sherbourne along with Yeovil, (main course), would be my pick of the Yeovil area courses however on Sherbourne take your climbing boots as there are more hills than you'd expect.

I live in Taunton and play at Enmore which is a parkland course takes me about 25 mins to get there.and if it EDF you are going to work for then that takes me 30 mins as I work in Security there. Pickeridge is a good course as it oake but has lots of water to go over.give me a shout if you want around somewhere.

We play around their when on our way to and back from Saunton every year.

Didn't like Oake Manor and we took it off our visit list but really liked Taunton Pickeridge and would play it again.

I live just outside Taunton and I'd rate Yeovil Old Course and Sherbourne as the best two courses, however I haven't played Taunton Pickerage which is also highly rated. Windwhistle has improved and I'd rate it alongside Taunton Vale as good honest courses that are reasonable with Windwhistle being one of the best conditioned winter courses in the area.

Wheathill is a good park course ideal for beginners and older players and although Long Sutton is a very good club, (brilliant socially), it isn't as well maintained as some of the other courses and has been ravaged by the floods resulting in only 15 holes currently being open
