How many times have i seen this on the cover of a golf magazine?

One of the reasons i've cancelled my subscription to GM. I am now golf magazine subscription free for the first time since i took the game up 3 years ago. I'll still read the mag but will limit it to one or two a year that seems to have new, interesting or relevant stuff in it... everything else just goes in circles.

Can you do it yet? :p :p :p

No and a hundred more mags with the same instruction and i still wont be able to.

exactamundo... even if i had the golfing talent* to do it, i still wouldn't have the time to practice enough to be able to.

I'd like to see anyone who has progressed from amateur to pro on the back of reading an article in a magazine!!!!

*who knows... maybe i do

15 years ago the only information out there was what you saw in a magazine...and people still made it to be pros. I reckon all of them would have read at least 1 article :)

I cut out and keep the tips from TG & GM. Having done it for 6 months they do seem to have entered rinse repeat. That said I would still subscribe to GM because of all the other great content. And on top of the joyous articles you get treated to some top notch comment from Bill Elliott.

I agree the tips are repetitive (and ocassionally contradict each other) but there's so much other good stuff in there!

I agree with the OP.
There is a serious amount of conflicting information in some magazines....And what some have one month others will have in some form in there issue the following month....
I still buy the odd one but more for the articles inside rather than the tips.....
I have to admit i have taken some good things from inside the pages of GM but not all......
I think the funniest front cover iv seen on a mag was learn to putt like me by none other than Mr Macilroy....

I paused for a moment and thought....Am i actually seeing this. At the time it was his putting that was the worst part of his game and here he is preaching to people to try and putt like him....Sorry Rory but my own way isnt too bad :D :D :D

Without looking at the stats or knowing who it is, I'd swap my putting for the worst player on the PGA tour in an instant, let alone Rory McIlroy's.

Maybe they should write a magazine for pros then they could have cover stories like "How to chip and pin like an Am: 5 steps to speanding all your money on golf whilst still sucking" now thats somthing i can do.

Do you really on get GM for the instruction though. To be honest its one of the last things I look at. First stop the forum pages, then the equipment (quelle surprise) and then the feature articles. Exactly the same with Golf International and Golf World

I do...i start the magazine from start to finish but I give nearly all the articles a quick glance up to the instruction part :D

The headlines like " Drive like Quiros", "chip like Karlsson" etc etc make me laugh. These guys have practiced for years to get that good. Am I going ever going to hit it like Quiros? Not if I live to be 1000! No matter how much instruction I read.

Yeah but if you bought that fantastic new driver with it's high MOI and it's fantastic new weight distributuion as advertised on pages 7/11/15/22/29/31/32/41/52/58/61/62/63 and in the little drop out leaflet you might do. Combine that with the super dooper new distance balls guaranteed to rid your slice on pages 11/15/22/26/31/43/55/57/72 and you're on to a winner.
Go on. You know you want to spend that £315.00
;)

Just once I would like to see a manufacturer advertise their new driver with the logo 'Hits it as far as the last one but it's a different shape and colour'. Now that would be worth reading.

Oops....guilty

I don't read the instructional bits. It's a magazine. Supposed to be a bit of a casual read. I like a lot of the articles, but instruction wise, I know what works with my game, and what doesn't.
