Just got back from taking Mrs DB to a chinese buffet restaurant. What a let down. The food was bland, tasteless, yuk. It is the first time I've been to one and couldn't believe the kind of corned beef legged, chavvy types with their Sunday best tracksuits that were there stuffing their faces as if it was their last meal. Never ever again.

Spot on went to one in Liverpool One with the family last month.

Fight in the queue, hordes of people elbowing each other out the way and terrible food.

Never again.

Your not too far away from Xscape. There is a large one upstairs which we often use before going to see a movie. There is also one just up the road before the asda and wakefield college's new campus. That is much much nicer. Yet to see any "dodgy" looking knuckle draggers eating there.

Agree with this. One thing about the one near the college though. They were heavily fined last year for running an oriental brothel upstairs. Don't think any of the waitresses were implicated.

We have one near us called cosmo which is very good compared to the rest of this type of restaurant.

Many of the more top-end dishes, all very well cooked and rich in flavour.

I prefer the more traditional a-la-carte chinese restaurant but this particular all-you-can eat jobby is an ideal place when we are eating out on a night on the razz.

My mum wanted to go out to a carvery (Toby). What a let down. Full of chavtastic parents letting their kids run amok. Food was crap. Apparently she goes with her friends in the week and its great. Of course it is, old dears are the only ones in there. Not likley to start chucking zimmer frames around for a bit of queue jumping!

It's amazing how much these "dear old frail people" can put away when offered the serve yourself carvery.

Hordes of pensioners piling up the plate as if preparing for a fortnight of famine! Some right old greedy buggers!
I often think they eat nowt all day...... "I've not eaten much today as I don't want to spoil my tea tonight" Bloody gluttons!!!

We've got two "Cosmo" restuarants near us, one in Eastbourne the other in Hastings.
The Eastbourne one isn't too bad. been there a couple of times and it's good value for money, the kids love it 'cos they can fill up with chicken balls and ribs!
The one in Hastings is crap! Only went there once and the food had been out for ages, all dry and no flavour at all. Hardly ate a thing and I won't be going back there again.
We have a brilliant Chinese in Bexhill called "Yous" and they do an all you can eat menue for about £10.00. Food is cooked fresh to order and is some of the nicest I've ever tasted. We go there quite often.

It's a bit like going to a Weatherspoon's pub, isn't it? You know the food isn't going to be cordon bleue but the price reflects what you get.

Having said that there are a few Jimmy Chung's around the country where the food isn't too bad at all. Just ignore the clientele.

I'm in agreement as a rule on this type of Chinese, that was until I tried days in Brighton, that place is amazing.

have you tried Yum Yum's noodle/dim sum bar? I think it's in Sidney Street.

Got one of these all you can eat places in Stevenage - went once - enough said!
Went to one in Penzance, you collect the makings and hand them to the cook, choose your sauce etc - that one was pretty good.
