RGuk
Tour Winner
Yesterday (Wednesday) TonyN offered an invite to play at his in Chester. So we played a 3-ball (Tony, Rick (Doh) and I (Rguk).

Luckily, it stayed dry all day and, although fairly gloomy, we enjoyed decent conditions. Tony's club only charges £12.50 for visitors with a member, which was good as we were off mats most of the way round.
I guess it would be fair to say that we were all steady enough but somehow lacking fighting spirit (which Tony and Rick are saving for Goswick).
Rick showed the way with convincing iron at the 1st and a deft touch at the 3rd (70 yards, out the rough, downhill lie, over a bunker...anyone??), a hole we all parred...
Things stayed on an even keel to the turn (all a shot over where we should have been) and Rick would have been leading (in the points) had it not been for the ball from his drive on the 4th currently residing on someone's back lawn.
Steady enough on 10,11,12 (pars and bogeys) all of us did something silly at the par 5 13th (unlucky for some) but kept our heads for 3 sixes. Tony and I had a "moment" with his Skycaddie on this hole....Skycaddie said 97, the disk on the fairway suggested 105, I tried to hit a 3/4 PW (in between) and chunked it about 70 foot!!
The next hole (14th) was the SI 1. par 4 and I guess we were doomed to lose our heads on this hole and make (again) 3 sixes. (3 doubles )
After a nice par 3 over the water there was a long par 5 (16th) which Rick made look easy and Tony and I both struggled in one way or another. The next was a long par 3 which had it been a par 4, we'd have parred, but things being the way they are, we all lost the plot totally and walked off with 3 fives.....(yes, it's still a huge mystery).
Thankfully, the last (par 4) was playing short. Rick and I tried to get on for one, but couldn't quite get there. meanwhile, Tony (who'd teed off first with an iron) had about 80 yards and hit it 79.99 yards, 2 foot left of the flag. This net eagle gave him mucho pointos....
Overall, all of us had one or two holes that were disappointing....but in the overall scheme of things were close on stableford points by the end, all between 32 and 34 points i.i.r.c.
It was good, as always, to enjoy a day out. Tony and Rick were good company and I wish them success and an enjoyable time up in Berwick.
