So I've been in touch with Callaway and I can either drive down to their performance centre and get fitted or go to one of their recommended centres one of them being the belfry. So for me the Belfry is probably an hour or even two less driving but would I be missing out on the full callaway experience by going there? quite looking forward to hitting a few irons, haven't used callaway irons for maybe 8 years now and excited to see how they compare to the MP67's I'm currently persisting with!

Any advice guys? Also if you were going to get a Callaway driver and had the choice would it be a FTi or a FT5? I've got a Callaway driver but it was given to me by a friend who could not hit it so it won't be such a loss to change it although I will be keeping it.

Get yourself down to the Callaway centre for a day in a lifetime. Regardless of distance.
I would go for the FT5 as I prefer the classic shape. Just my preference mind.
Hope you have a great day whatever you choose.
Congrats on winning.

The Chessington centre looks impressive from the outside. I live about 20 minutes away so if you fancy a round give some of us Surrey folk a PM.

A_F, I think if I had the opportunity mike has I wouldn't go in with any preconceptions. I think I would let the Callaway guys really fit me.

Definitely go to the Callaway centre even if you need to stay over to complete the fitting.

Never been much of a callaway fan so can't help you with the driver.

If i was you i would make the extra journey and go to the callaway centre. Think one day you may regret it if you don't.

Have you done all the research on club fitters locally?

If it must be Callaway then why not go all the way.

Go Callaway.

I have had both driver you mentioned. FT-5 everytime! But thats just preference. Get fitted and let the results make ya mind up!

definitely go to the Callaway centre. As viscount says it would even be worth an over night stay if that was necessary as what would that cost you £100? And you will most probably walk away with well over £1,000s worth of gear and I bet the experience would be entirely unique. If you go to the Belfry it will be like any custom fitting to be honest but I reckon the guys at Callaway will give you a bit of the tour pro treatment.

Anyway stop posting about it you're making me jealous ;)

The Belfry is good - I have lessons and have been fitted for all my clubs except the wedges there and have no complaints.

The FT-5 is a real beauty BTW, as are the wedges!!

Chessington without a doubt, I was fitted there for a driver 3&5 wood and hybrid and it was a great experience, got to try loads of different clubs not just the latest ones but got the FT5 cos i was hitting it straighter but also prefer the head shape.
Sad I know but even the head covers you get with them are the dogs!

yeah I think its going to have to be the Chessington centre then after all the advice on here. I'm going on wednesday at 3 I think so I'll let you all know how I get on. I've never been a fan of the computerised driving net things in the past so that was the reason for asking if I would be better off at the Belfry or somewhere similar with an actual range.

I've hit the FT-5 before as my mate has one and I found it easy to shape but wasn't get as much distance as mine. I'll just try the lot, been down to the pro shop today to see how much trade in they will give me for my irons against a powerkaddy, I've still got my titleist's if I cant get away with the callaways. I'm quite excited about having the clubs custom fit, been struggling last month or so a bit with my game and I've been blaming all sorts of things but this could be the confidence boost I need!

Thanks again everyone for the advice, Homer an HTL I don't think I'll be able to make a round this week as when I go there it will be a flying visit but in the next couple of months I will be visiting family in Caterham and will definately be up for a round if your both available.

I will be on my summer holidays from work so will be up for a game any time.

Keep us updated with how it goes

Got to be Chessington. I drove there once from Birmingham to get a replacement club....may as well go to the real hub of it all.

I love Callaway gear, always have done. Sadly, I don't like the FT-i and I'm guessing the FT-5 is an updated FT-3, which I don't like anyhwere near as much as my Ping G5.
