Does anyone know the correct date when it is considered polite to break into the Arran Whisky flavoured Arran cheese round that ones partner has given as a festive treat.
Same goes for the bottle of Chivas Regal.

Christmas Eve would seem early enough imo.

Stop staring at them and exercise some self control!;)

Oft many many years ago i gave my papa three 1.5 litres of chivas regal for xmas. He was amazed as i was a YTS plumber at time £33 squid a week. Did they fall off the back of lorry David? Papa just because im working in the gorbals doesnt mean therye dodgy. :D and he did say they tasted real

Well the cheese got hit a couple of days ago and I finally opened The Chivas. Very nice both.
I was given the Lidl in house 22 year old single malt 'Royal Bracken' which the experts say is a Bowmore which has lost a bit of its smoke...saving that to see in a hopefully happier 2017.

Back on the cheese front I have taken to the Yorkshire habit of having it with Christmas cake [without the icing and marzipan of course]

Nice to see you're taking it the right way. All you need now is Wensleydale and you'll be fine. Look forward to a review of the Bracken. I've had a 12 yr old Glenturret today, with Wensleydale. I'd forgotten how good the GT is.

It has been impossible to get plain Wensleydale here this Christmas. Plenty with cranberries etc.

I think I've turned into cheese. I've certainly got a similar fat content. Christmas day sitting round the table with family we hammered a cheese board along with 3 bottles of red port and a bottle of white port then another 2 bottles on boxing day with some fine local cheese.

Got it in Tesco's but from the cheese counter, not the ready packed stuff. Just had some, and Stilton, Brie with some 12 yr old Glenturret.

Tashyboy, missis T and another couple are off to Derbyshire tomorrow morning for three nights and four days. They have said what are we doing. I have said that you can do what ever you want for the four days, but for 4-6 hours on one of the nights, Tashyboy is getting acquainted with two bottles of finest port and the best cheeses Manchester Christmas market could provide. Plus the obligatory biscuits and nibbles.

Who thought that was a good idea?

The Lidl expressions are meant to be very, very good indeed for the price they're asking. I have a rather full whisky cabinet though so MrsP vetoed buying any. I've been mainly supping Benromach 15 and Arran 14 over the festive period, but interspersed it with some Yamazaki 12, and some English Whisky Co. I've still got some miniatures of Wemyss single casks to work on for new year. It's been a good festive season!

Just opened the Lidl Ben Bracken, very nice, still quite smokey IMO but not overpowering.
It does seem like it is from Bowmore
Very good value for price.

JDP is the English stuff still a poor imitation?:o
