Had the pleasure today of being invited by Fish to play in the invitation day at his new club North Warwickshire this afternoon. Despite the panic of there being a smash on the M1 got there in time for a bacon roll and a few swishes with a wedge.

North Warks is a 9 greens, but 18 tees course, and theyve managed exceptionally well to make many of the holes feel completely different from the two sets of tees. Sand based and in fabulous condition, good fast greens, it was a most enjoyable test, especially with the wind gusting up.

The first was just over 300 yds into the wind, not too big an issue until you come round to play it as the tenth and the tee is over 100yds back and its nearly 450yds straight into the teeth of it!

The 4th/13th is a fabulous looking par 5 (which I have unfinished business with despite making 2 pars!). A 2 tier green where on all accounts its possible to stop the ball on the slope between the tiers!!!!!)

The tee shot off 6 is one of the hardest Ive faced the year, nicely balanced by the risk reward driveable 7th (which becomes a long par 3 as the 16th).

A cracking day round a very decent golf course, great company too, how golf should be (albeit we left a few too many out there to be in the prizes)

Also nice to hear they have worked out that Fish really shouldnt be playing off 21, cant last much longer before that comes tumbling!

All the prizes and best scores where from teams playing in the morning, pre-wind! It certainly made for a bigger test in the afternoon as only 2 teams bettered our score (40 points) and both by only 1 point, damn that silly blob on 7 :angry:

My ball was on its 4th round over 3 different courses and about to be framed, why oh why did I drop down to my 3w on the 12th and not stick with my driver which was behaving well only to fly it OOB

You have now been officially introduced to my Nemesis hole namely the 4th/13th which, although I played it a lot better than previous encounters, is a pig and hasn't had its last word until that ball is firmly in the hole! Reach it in regulation and find yourself on the wrong level and it has 3-stab written all over it.

Enjoyed the day and the banter along with our 2 other playing partners who were put with us at the 11th hour, we must have made an impression on them as the guest invited us back at any time to his course at Kings Norton which is on my 'to play' list as I have only ever hear good things about it.

Silly question, but I've never played at a course with multiple tee boxes....

So from what I gather from the website (like the look of the course!!) the 4th and 15th are played off different tee boxes. On a busy medal day, does this cause a bit of congestion or how is this managed?

Played on a course like this once and slow play was never a problem just less groups on the course as only really 9 fairways and greens so people never overlap as such.

The booking system at the one I played was first come first served and when a group got to the 10th they had priority over people on the first. Appeared to work fine.

4th & 13th are different tee boxes but same fairways and greens, the back 9 tee boxes are at times significantly different changing par 5's to 4's and par 4's to par 3's and creating totally different shot shapes required from them.

An example of a medal day or any comp would be 1st tee times off at 07.50 through to 09.40hrs and then a gap until 12noon so that those teeing off during that time will be through the 10th by the time the afternoon starts off the 1st again, it works very well :thup:

I always attempt to tee off at the latest morning tee-time as there is never ever anyone behind you :smirk:
