Cheapest place to buy iPads

Those who know my situation... I am looking to buy an iPad.. I am thinking 3rd gen or even 2nd generation or maybe refurb ones. Any suggestions on where I can find good deals on iPads? Do I wait after xmas?

You can save a bit buying a reconditioned one direct from apple. They come fully packaged and in mint condition.

A quick scan of the apple website shows that the refurb are not necessarily any majorly cheaper than original.. what kind of rip off pricing does Apple run?

Basically Apple do not do sales or discounts and nor do their official retailers. Unless you want to go down the ebay route then Apple set the price as people will pay it.

Would also be careful of older iPads. Apple no longer support the first iPad and you have to think that the iPad 2 is on borrowed time

Very true. If you look at the Apple international retailers websites in any currency, then convert it the prices are basically the same. Take a snapshot from their website and head down to the Apple store on your high street and the prices are identical.

Resale price maintenance - this was made illegal way back, buts still alive and kicking in every area of retail.

Know someone who works at a Apple company. My sister in law gets up to 25% discount.

HID has a student card, but not sure if the 15-20% is across the board. But looks like worth a visit to the apple store coming up
