Hi, having just organised my first charity golf day for a local cancer charity, I am seeking help on any one who has knowledge on how to make an event bigger and better and maybe organise sponsorship so if anyone has any ideas or contacts please get in touch

When I did my first one I wrote to agencies like IMG etc and asked for any donations. I got quite a bit of autographed stuff. I also wrote to a few celebrities directly which helped along with places like Capital Radio (got a trip in their traffic plane flying over London) and the theatres which brought some tickets for Mamma Mia etc.

You need to think strategically and "out of the box" for want of a better phrase (I hate it but having a writers block moment). Think about local businesses who may already have connections to local cancer centres, hospices and hospitals and see if they'll get involved. Local golf clubs are usually pretty good at putting up a free fourball for auctioning and try your local sports teams.
