Right, I would be interested in doing this as part of a team of 4 and may well participate as the charity in question is one that has recieved a great deal of dosh from me in the past.

However, this isnt really the correct way to recruit people as I am sure people who do these 1-post-wonder plugs realise.

Hi - In answer to your question, £90 from each team will go directly to charity.

That being the case I would rather just write a cheque for £90 to the charity.

£170 creamed off and just £90 to the charity per team seems shite to me.

Errr...who pays for the green fee and all the food/prizes John???
Standard 18 hole green fee is £32.00 without any grub.
:D

£32 for the green fee is fine but £58 for prizes and food seems a bit steep to me. I'd want a huge prize table and a very good meal for that. Sorry but I agree with Jon on this and would rather give directly.

I may be wrong but the maths seems to be going a bit awry here.

If it's £60 per person and £22.50 per person goes to charity, then that leaves £37.50 for the green fee, prizes, food etc?

If the green fee is normally £32 then I don't see that anyone's profiteering here.

Doesn't seem bad to me. Not sure why all the indignation!

Absolutely correct Sir, your maths are spot on.
I think John and Homer need to invest in new calculators and maybe offer an apology to the young lady for suggesting something untoward going on????
I'd play in it if I didn't have something else going on that day.

Phew, I thought my maths was ok!

She must not have a good impression of this forum after the warm welcome she's received. :o

My thoughts exactly.
It's not as if she was spamming a Chinese "lookie likey" website or trying to sell some clubs.
Where else would you go to try to promote a charity golf day, a Motorbike website????
:o :o :o :o :o

I know. The nerve of her. Coming on here promoting a good value golf day at a nice track in aid of a great charity.

Some people, eh? :D

Sorry but I get so may phone-calls and mailshots about charity events and some are just shockingly poor. Maybe thats what makes me so cynical.

We had one earlier last week for an endurance go-karting event that was £495 for a team of 4 that was basically a get-rich scheme for a promotions firm that would donate a slither to charity.

When you look at the breakdown of this one it does make it seem more plausible so perhaps I was a bit too quick to be harsh.

whey .... seem like I have started a bit of a rather friendly discussion here!!! Don't worry haven't been put off!! In reply to all the messages you are completely right. The £60 is £22.50 straight to the charity and £37.50 is the green fee with a 3 course meal with complimentry drink, bacon butty on arrival. The Golf Club have also been kind enough to offer a seperate round of golf as an auction prize so they are being quite reasonable.
