Our senior captain introduced a charity box and we have to contribute 50p for every penalty drop in the first nine holes.
On Senior Captain's Day we had to contribute £1 if we missed the green on the short 15th. He made £38 that day.
It could be quite expensive for numpties like me. :(

I like the Idea of the captains charity bunker on the signature hole. Normally a par 3.

Ours is the Island green 17th, Anything not on the island is in the drink and there for 50p has to go in the bucket on the bar.

There is also a great one at Vicars cross in Chester. The 18th is a par 3 from a sort of grandstand tee over some dead ground with a stream and path at bottom, as it comes back up at the other side, the green is surrounded by bunkers, (short right is captains bunker) The backdrop of the green is the big windows of the club house. Certainly and intimidating finish, but a great spin on the hole.

It would be fairer to have h/c based charity bucket.
If players shoot nett bogey on any hole 20p or 50p in the bucket.Or do it for nett birdies.

I'd hate to be the high h/c player having a bad day and going for your 17th Tony.lol. ££££££££££

I had a run in with a Captain a few years ago when I was on the Commitee. His Son had not long died in a car crash and he wanted to add 50p to all competition fees to go towards his sons favourite charity.

I pointed out that by doing so you were effectvely ordering people to contribute to the charity and that's not on. Many people already contribute to their "pet" charity and to force them to put up more soured the sense of the charity in the first place. I suggested a Captain's Bunker on our 5th hole instead. He couldn't see my point at all, thinking I was "dishonouring" his son. We never really spoke after that. He left the club 5 years later when he moved away but I still doff my cap to the chestnut tree we planted at the 1st tee in remembrance of his son.

We have a pond just to the right of the 18th. In there will cost you £1. Its fair because even the high handicappers can take three or four shots and get to within 60-100 yards of the green and so if you get wet from there you deserve a forfeit.

We have a captains charity bunker to the right of the 18th, I think the method of raising money in the original post is a tad over the top though.

We dont have anything like that, we usually just have some sort of tin or shaker for whatever charridy comes into th club and asks. We have a couple of bunkers on our last, I wonder if its worth asking the committee.

Good thing with a charity Bunker is, it is not a rule, it is optional, people dont have to contribute but they normally do.

We have a Captain's bunker, I think it's a quid.
Never been in it (it really takes a shocking shot!!) and even if I did, I'd probably not have a coin, but I'd make sure I gave a pound to the next worthy collection I saw.
I think at my last club, someone told me I owed £2 for sitting on the Captain's chair. I didn't pay up.....but I put a fiver in the Hospice box next day.
