.....No not the missus:whistle: but rather my 12 yr old Volvo V70......
Iv had this lady for the past 6 years and to be honest its been trouble free....The usual things like the odd shock or wishbone here or there had to be replaced but they are wear and tear parts.....

So come January i have to say farewell to her as the cost of getting it through our national car test will at least reach the early part of 4 figures.....
Im not spending much and as iv only put 45k on my volvo in 6 years its not really worth my while with a diesel....
So im toying with a change of brand and just wondering has anyone any experience with the 2003 model Subaru Forester...Everything im reading seems pretty good about them and obviously ill get the Turbo model as im a slight petrol head being a Panel Beater...

Really im wanting longevity, reliability, safety, and something that the dog and of course the clubs will fit in...
Winters arent getting any better round here and the 4 wheel drive will come into its own then i guess....

S-Turbo? Nice.

These have been great cars over the years, with better on-road than almost anything else.

Just don't keep it forever. They are known to go horribly wrong in lots of ways all at the same time.

BUT, that's a long way in the future......

Solid car but can be expensive for parts €300 for a window motor :( Although I did change the rear discs and pads for €80
Can be fairly thirsty but you know that like mine but cant really justify it anymore and half thinking about punting it.

Id just like a change.....
Max ill be spending will be around 3,000 as the golf subs are also up after christmas.....
Seen a few nice ones and there's a 04' in a garage in Donegal for 3 grand....
It'll more than likely be the 2nd or 3rd week in January when i do eventually buy.....

Im not too bothered about parts as im in the trade so i get the perks of discount...
How is it on fuel?

One of the lads working in the garage with me drives a 99 Impreza Type R.....Anti lag the whole shebang...All the bells and whistles....But its been through the mill with its problems...From what i can gather once the engines are left alone, regularly serviced and the oil is changed every 4-5 yhousand miles then they are practically bullit proof.

I am sure we could reach an agreement ;)

Problem with the parts are some (window motor) are Subaru only and CANNOT be got anywhere else except a dealer. Running gear stuff is easily got.

MPG is around 25 if you go handy but if you put the lead wellies on expect around 10ish (allegedly  )
