After the last couple of months at my current place I have decided to move on to what I would class as a proper golf club, ie one that is run as a golf club and takes care of its members, has some of those old fashioned values and is a good course to play.
I have pretty much got it down to Harborne as favourite but a good friend from current course has also left and joined Great Barr and is raving about it, anybody played both and have an opinion on which is best?
I am playing Harborne Wednesday and plan to play Great Barr week after but popped up to Harborne on Friday afternoon between meetings and ended up having a good chat with pro, a committe member and several members and enjoyed the banter
Leaving current course as they just seem to be chasing visitors these days, struggled for 2/3 weeks to get a morning weekend tee time due to a lot of stay and play (they have over 15 overnight cabins now overlooking 18th with more being built) plus societies. Also the admin of comps is painfully slow, played a modified Texas scramble 2 weeks ago and results still not up a week later. Website was updated 2 months ago and members side still 'under contstruction' resulting in no updated handicaps or comps plus too many other irritations to mention.

So Harborne or Great Barr, any help?

Harbourne is good and enjoyable to play and I don't think you would do wrong by joining. I have not played Great Barr but have heard good things about it. I would have thought it would be sensible to play both before deciding.
