My trusty Bridgestone J33 took a bit of a whack at the range last week, and I may have cracked the shaft.

Is it possible to buy a shaft and remove old one/insert new one as a diy effort (assuming correct grade of araldite is selected) or is this a take it to the pro jobby ?

It's a standard driver btw, no adjustable bits and bobs.

Can't answer your question but I broke my G15 Ping driver last week and took it in to a golf shop for advice and they sent it back to ping at a cost of £79, not cheap but less than a new one and includes a new grip which it needed anyway.

thanks. I assumed it would come it at around that, and to be honest once it gets above £50 it's probably better to go on the bay and get a 'new' driver. Hence the interest in diy.

TheCraw does a bit of DIY shafting - Oooh, Er Missus...!!
Obviously Bob is the Man.
As long as you can heat the club, pull the shaft sensibly and glue a new one in, the "mechanics" of it are pretty straight-forward if you have the right kit

It is a fairly easy thing to DIY.

You need to know the hosel size of the club, often something like 0.350 or 0.335 for driver, you can easily find that online. Buy a replacement shaft with the same size tip.

Try to slide the plastic ferrule up the shaft a bit of you want to keep it. You are often better getting a new ferrule.

Warm the hosel area CAREFULLY with a blowtorch, 20 seconds will usually soften the epoxy enough to pull the shaft out. Clean out the hosel of any residue with a quick touch with an electric drill bit.

You want to get proper re-shafting epoxy, mix it with glass beads powder for exact alignment, coat the shaft tip and inside hosel then slide shaft in and line up, leave for 24hrs. Remember to have the new ferrule on before you put shaft in clubhead.

Is is pretty easy, you can do all above in a few minutes.

Rough cost, epoxy £10, ferrule £1, glass beads £4. There will be enough epoxy and glass beads to reshaft 20 clubs for this amountof cash.

You might need a new grip for £5. Use double sided tape and white spirit to fit that. Regripped 7 myself last night in a half hour. I would never pay for that it's so easy.
