Changing Driver Head Weight

looking for a little advice please,

Kind of following on from the shaft thread I have a driver where the head weights can be changed.

I have a 3, 7 and 11 gram weight that can be changed, what difference will this make to the club by changing them (apart from making it heaver or lighter)

I currently play with the 3 gram weight what will be affected if I change for one of the others?

I'm out later for a knock and was going to change them to see what happens but wondered what I should expect to happen.

Re: Changing Driver Head Weight

Changing the head weights will increase the clubs overall dead weight, but it will also increase it's swing weight too. This means the overall club will feel heavier when you swing it, because the balance has been shifted nearer the head. Each 2g in weight at the head will increase the swing weight by 1 point - if your normal swing weight is D2 for example, the it's swing weight will increase to D3 by adding 2g to the head. 6g will therefore increase 3 points to D5 etc. Increasing swing weight will have ZERO effect on ball flight, spin, CoG and the flex of the shaft, but the knock on effect as to how heavy it feels may impact your swing - and hence you will notice a difference maybe. 1-2 swing weight point change is no biggie, but anything greater than this can have a marked effect on how you swing and feel the club. It's certainly worth experimenting to see which setting works best for you - if you can swing a club with more ease and control, then you will find the sweetspot more often - and that's what it's all about.
