Easily knowing i have plenty of time on my hands this morning

Some like change some dont but im changing my swing tempo and pre shot routine for the better i hope......
After our round on saturday myself and my Dad had a long chat about a whole lot of things golf related....A couple that stood out for me were the pace of play and speed and tempo of swings and also practice.
Now i know most dont like slow play at its extreme and there isnt much that can be done about the whole course running slow but my dad is a fairly quick player(12) handicap...Think Simon Dyson quick and you've just about got it.......
I tended to play at his pace also (no bad thing some might say) but in a bid to broaden my experience, enjoyment and to make me better he has agreed to slow down his own pace of play slightly so that i can relax a little more over shots and take my time instead off playing as fast as i do.
This has led me to change certain areas of my game ie. My pre shot routine over every shot including that on the greens and my swing........
Iv already changed my clubs and im back playing regular shafts in my Irons and this has given rise to the tempo of my swing getting a little smoother.....Its still a work in progress.......
I have been looking at heaps of footage from freddie couples and Ernie els in a a bid to emulate there rythym and swings and also there pre shot routines...
He also is going to get me to look at my putts from both sides of the hole...Something i never done......I was more of a mark my ball line it up with the break roughly and have a quick peek at the ground before having 1 practice swing and then a hit.......
My dad is 60 next year and although he is still very competitive his take on the game is that he is in it more so now for the enjoyment and the walk rather than the competition......His words not mine.......
He has said that at 35 i have a lot of good years of golf left in me to get as good as my ability will let me which he reckons can see me get to single figures with some dedication and some work to iron out a few of the creases i have..I have a good natural ability to play the game and im not technical minded in swing thoughts at all....Im more of a feel player.......
My goal obviously is to reach single figure and also to play for my club along the way......There are two types of club team.....Handicaps from scratch to 11 and the other is from 12 to 18....I have a partner that says she is fully behind me playing at club level if im asked which is a big bonus as there may be a fair bit of commitment needed for it.....
Have anyone else made big changes to there game for the better....or worse........?
Here's looking to a fruitful future......
