Change the driver for 25 yards more?

OK was back in AG tonight looking about a four iron to go with my irons.

And to cut the story short I was on the machine hitting drivers.

I tested a g30 ls tec I was hitting it about 275ish against my own which was around 250ish.

So basically they offered me 90 quid for my g20 and 60 quid to change to the g30. But the g30 second hand. Was told you can't upgrade to a second hand club but was going to do this tonight.

It was 8.55 and I walked away. And the reason was the condition of the g30 it had normal play marks and was well used but at one piont it was sky marked just between face and top and was filled in with a small amount of black paint.

Now back home and thinking maybe I should have taken it. For 60 quid to Gain 25 yards.

I see a odd new one around for 249 but means having to sell my g20 and there is no way I will get 90 quid for that.

Be interesting to get peoples take on this.

Bear in mind I have just splashed out 285 on irons and going to spend around 100 now on a four iron. And could be doing with keeping what money I have left but it's 25 yards lol. 10/15 I can live with but 25 is a massive gain I feel..

It seems a little bit of a small sample of shots, my own drives vary by 25 or more yards during a round.

Worth looking into but you shiuod look to get more data before deciding.

Hit about 10 balls which each. Tested a few others as well. Like the 915. It was about the same as the g20 but right down the middle ( normal shot be a 10 yard of draw) . Also the alpha Callaway 815 it was about 10 more but was at 9 degree.

Spin rate on the g30 between 1900 and 2200 which is what I liked aswell.

My drives dont change a lot in distance unless a bad hit or into a wind the only way I see maybe 25 yards of difference.

But 25 yards does seem a fair bit. I know the guys in shop been known to push people into buying etc and he did say to me that am at the high end of stiff almost x. And that going from the 9.5 current to the 10.5 low sping g30 head was a good move as I was getting a little bit higher launch and with my swing speed and the ls tec head it was giving me this big difference in distance that I was seeing.

Makes sense I guess

Not familiar with the drivers, but are you able to try the shaft that worked well in your current driver head?
I do predict this is going to eat at you and you will do something!

A complete no brainer.

25 yds is a complete game changer (as is 15 in practice but that's not the issue here).

Knew I was tight I the previous thread - it doesn't matter what's printed on the club's in your bag, or whether they look beaten up; the only thing that matters is what you do with them.

Yeah my shot shape the same about 5/10 yard of draw. The 915 was like a arrow tho but don't mind the little draw, maybe gives me a few extra yards
