Hi chaps

I have recently bought (and am getting on well) with a new G10 driver, and wilson fybrid 3 wood,5 wood and 4h as a replacement for my 4 iron which I couldn't get on with. These all have regular flex graphite shafts.

Now I am struggling a bit with my irons which are an old set of wilson staff tour blades (from the 80's) which have stiff shafts. What are your thoughts? Should I get a new set of irons with regular shafts? Any ideas/recommendations on good priced equivalent irons. Am sure the stiff shafts are costing me a bit of yardage.

What would my irons be worth on trade in or 2nd hand value 3-SW?

My background - I don't have a h'cap as I am not a member but have been playing regularly and average 10-12 over par, on a fairly easy course near Chichester. Par 71 I broke 80 4 times last year, 5 over par is my best round there.

Hey up matey welcome aboard, the blades will be worth very little, if you get 30-40 quid for them, consider it a job well done. Iron wise, get to your local pro or superstore and get a swing with as many different shafted clubs as possible, too flexxy and they wont do you any favours either.

Bin those blades and get a set of tasty sensible cavity
backed....not an out and out improvers iron but a decent mid-low set. I checked out the Titleist AP1s today....lovely, but I can't justify the £600 tag.....(how much?).
If you like Wilson staff....why not look at the latest range....popular at my club....and some models pretty cheap.
Most golf stores (not pro shops) will give you a trade in (even though the clubs might well be binned) just to get a full priced sale.

You might get something from AG for them (not much though). My local one and I think it is a franchise wide initiative are sending a lot of used clubs back to HQ to be distributed to schools as a way of getting golf out to the youngsters

Get in to AG quick as their current deal is for trade-ins (they just say old set not how old), and not necessarily bigger trade-ins against the dearest clubs.

I think my AG is the same as Homer and I agree with him. Get in there asap and get something with good componentry and if possible a good brand name for possible trade in.

Good componentry could be :

Grips - Golf Pride

Shafts - Dynamic Gold

Heads - Cavity backs (good brand if pocket ok)

Big Bertha '06 are for sale in Ag for £299 and you get a free Callaway rescue club worth £119.

i think this is a hell of a deal, Those clubs are ace and ultra forgiving.
