St. Johnstone scored their first goal of the season to win at Parkhead. Celtic have failed to find the net this week against Sion and St. Johnstone. Scottish football is going down the pan.
My solution is scrap the SPL and the Scottish national team. Introduce a British League with Celtic and Rangers in the top flight. Britsh national team with Giggs and McGregor in it. At least England would have a real goalie!

It has been down the pan for a long long time.

Celtic will get into the Europa League through default even if they don't win on aggregate....shameful,and we may be the only Scottish team to be in Europe beyond August which may be even more shameful!

I really believe tougher times are ahead for the game in Scotland especially if Rangers go into administration which is a real possibility.

I still go and support my national team through fierce patriotism but at £30 a ticket I don't go to watch the SPL anymore as it is a vastly overpriced product.

Please take Rangers and Celtic down south Scottish Football WILL be a better place without them.

Maybe some perspective needed.

There are 53 football associations under UEFA, apart from England, Spain, Germany and Italy the other 49 which include Scotland are of a mediocre or poor standard at club level.

Any decent player is going to find themsleves in one of those 4 countries and so all Scotlands reasonable club footballers end up in England as wages are better than Scotland, even in the Championship.

For what its worth the Scottish national side is a bit better than its been and is no worse than Ireland, Wales or N Ireland or dozens of other smaller countries in Europe.

Scottish club football is what it is, it's not going to change but fans will always support their team and enjoy going to matches. The game is based upon speed and physicality, playing a slow skilful passing game would just be lost on most fans up here.

Completely agree with this and ive been saying it for a long time now.

Compare Scottish football with other countries of similar size and population, not with the big European countries and I think you will find our game is of a higher standard than most.

Tha fact is that we as a country actually punched above our weight for a long time both at club and international level and now we have settled into our rightful place among the other minnows of the football world.

Spot on.
Considering we have a population about the same size as London,i don't think we do too bad.

Good points from Dodger, Birdieman, Smange and Mungoscorner.
However, we have to face the fact that Celtic used to sell their stars to top clubs and they went on to be successful at those clubs (Dalglish, Macari, Larsson etc.) Nakamura went to Espanyol and flopped. Celtic signed a manger (Mowbray) from a team that was relegated. It´s getting worse.
There may be something in the population argument but look at Portugal and Holland (wee countries) and they have won far more than Russia, Turkey and the Scandinavian countries put together.
I thought the EU was about free trade and movement between states. Why can´t Celtic and Rangers do business with United, Liverpool, Chelaea and Arsenal if that´s what people want. Why should Blatter and archaic regulations stop the people of Glasgow seeing top class soccer week in week out?
