Just left my club after 11 years & looking for a bit of variety. Play Mid-Am Tour, various Matchplay events & a couple of societies around Herts, Essex & Alicante. Think your Finals Day is Monday 5th Oct which is the day after Mid-Am final day at St. Andrews so can't make that either. I'll sign up for next season's events.

Cheers!

You've been a bit slow off the mark, the regional events are just about finished with the last event is this Sunday at Alwoodley with a potential of another at Seaton Carew, that said you are welcome to join us at finals day.

Keep your eye on the Arrange a Game forum, there is always plenty going on.

Welcome, can i ask, if you are no longer a member of a club how do you enter comps, surely your handicap is no longer valid?

As for going to games, just keep an eye out here for reg get togethers, there's plenty going on in the SE.

Re: Race to Hillside Final - Thursday May 21st

Going to join a Muni so they can hold my Handicap. Have a EGU Lifetime ID where my Handicap is stored online. Every Mid-Am event consists of 2 Medal rounds off the Tips which automatically update on the system.

TBH, I think golf is kicking itself in the teeth by insisting every player HAS to be a member of a club just to obtain & keep as handicap. I'll keep my eye out for future events in SE.

I don't know, i think there should be an advantage to being a member of a club and that advantage is being able to play in Handicap comps.

How does an EGU life time ID work then, surely you still have to be a club member to have a valid handicap?

You do it's your CDH number and it's stays with you but the clubs have to validate with your a member or not and wether active or not some are a little slow to update.

Thought it might have been diff, just wondering how you can enter comps as per the post i replied to.

Re: Race to Hillside Final - Thursday May 21st

One of the reasons I left my club. Don't understand why when competing in a recognised EGU Tour event with Scratch & better players & fair CSS why this isn't allowed to simply be updated automatically by the Event committee via a uniformed website facility rather than placing it in the hands off 1,000's of club handicap secretaries up & down the country.

Most do now, I entered 3 opens last year and all were automatically updated, I viewed the CDH days after the event and all was spot on.

The lifetime ID is not what it seems. If you cease to be a club member for a year or more, your number is cancelled and you will get a new one if you join a club again.

Re: Race to Hillside Final - Thursday May 21st

All sorted. Switched my CDH CONGU handicap to my local course as a non-playing Member. Playing 10+ events on Mid-Am Tour gives me over 20 Medal rounds p.a. :D

I still don't get this, if you are a non playing member, then surely you are not paying SGU/EGU fee's so wouldn't be an active member of a club so again have no off handicap?

Re: Race to Hillside Final - Thursday May 21st

Wrong. Fees include membership of the golf club (without playing rights), membership of county golf union (in this case Essex) & payment as a club member to EGU. On the contrary this type of membership is encouraged by England Golf for those not wishing to be tied to one particular club/course. Unless Private Member club up their collective game it will become an ever more popular way of playing golf with friends at courses of your choice.

Re: Race to Hillside Final - Thursday May 21st

Mods, can I ask someone to please move these posts into a new thread to save clogging this one up with non Race to Hillside posts.

Thanks

Which course is this ?

And that certainly wasn't the message that EGU were giving at a recent forum they posted out

They would prefer to encourage people to become members of golf clubs and all the benefits that come with that - private or muni being no different

How exactly do "Members Clubs" need to "Up their game"

How exactly do you gain a playing HC along with a CDH number if you don't put in qualifying cards from your club who maintain your HC
