As a newbie - I am using a set of Adams blade Irons. I don't get a massive amount of height or distance. I have had lessons and continuing with them but I tried a cavity iron on Friday of a friend and hit it further and got great height - does this tell me I should switch for a cavity set of irons?

It certainly does!!!! ;)

I agree with the above, as a newbie to the game you are using the most difficult clubs to master. Even top tour pro's are leaving the blades out of the bag in favour of using cavity back irons these days. Get a Game improvement cavity back iron and you will hit the ball much better. You do not need to spend a fortune just buy second hand, there are loads of places to get good used gear and you will be able to get some quality gear for less.

It says alot when golf pro's have gone to cavity clubs from blades, luke donald being one of them with his mizzy muscle backs.

thank you!!!

I think as a newbie you need all the help you can get and GI or even SGI clubs will do just that. Plenty of really good makes and models out there so it's a question of trying as many as you can and seeing what suits you best

Depends on your swing speed. Graphite tends to be for the older golfer. Its too hard to say from a forum what clubs are for you. Speak to your local club pro and they'll be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Personal I would buy second hand pings. That way if you get better fast you can sell them for close to what you baught them as pings hold their value very well
