Well it's felt like a bit of a slog at the moment, but I think I've achieved my goal for this year of Cat1.

Today's comp was Presidents Cup & Putter (Nett comp and scratch comp in one). Strange how things go but wasn't actually playing that well, my driving is still costing me big time but today my putting cost me shots (I was inches short, or an inch to the side on the 6/7 birdie chances I had from 15 feet). Somehow managed to come in with gross 75, nett 69 and was leader in the clubhouse until the current club champ came in with a gross 70 :(

On the bright side my cut should take me down to Cat1 status (7.2 at start of comp year) and my goal achieved for the year. Will obviously wait for official confirmation but very happy to be able to get down whilst playing slightly out of my normal game.

....oh dear doubles match on Wednesday, partner won't be happy

Well done!

What do you put your new handicap down to? More practice or just concentrating on the short game?
To be frank, neither :)

I don't practise anymore than I used to, last year I went from cat1 to 7.2 playing just outside buffer all year. This year I just seem to be able to score better. Don't practise during the week, play once a week generally, and a nine hole Rollup midweek evening over this summer.

I wish I could pinpoint something, I know for a fact if I hit more fairways then I would probably score better too.

Stats from today's round ....

I use golfshake to record stats this year, some interesting observations can be concluded ... the screen grab is just one of the many reports they provide.
