After my new car revealed the boot space of a suitcase compared to the previous model and my inability to get all my kit in it, I've decided that carrying is the only option.
As a Driving Instructor I can't leave a thumping great trolley bag on the back seat while taking lessons and as I like to have the clubs to hand in case of spare time, I'd rather not have to go back to the house every time I want to sneak off for a quick 9!

So looking at Stand Bags and the 2 that have caught my eye are the Titleist SX6 and the Titleist StaDry.
Anyone use either of these - they're cheaper than the equivalent SunMountain bags and I'm not really taken by any others.

I have recently purchased a Mizuno Twister 1V stand bag. Absolutely brilliant! Its a really good size but is light as a feather. Its also got detachable clothing pockets so can change to a pencil type bag if circumstances dictate. Looks really good in the Mizuno Tour colours also. Got it at Golf Gear Direct online (they still have them in stock) for £110. This is the cheapest i could find Golf Gear Direct say the rrp is £130 but most other sites are selling around £140 - £160. Worth a look!

Imurg ive got the Mizuno Aerolie III and it's really good, plently of storage space and really light. If you shop around you might even find them for less than £60 now as they are over a year old. Plus it will match your irons :D

As I said on Sunday to 'Murg, it's a great bag, my only issue with it is the legs don't extend as far or as easily/quickly as other bags, so there's a few times where it can be a bit wobbly, but other than that, I couldn't be happier with it. Plenty of space, light as a feather and looks good.

And as you say, can be picked up cheap as chips now.

Oh it's Murg to you now is it :D

I bought it on your recommendation Aztec and im pleased to say that it was a quality bag during the winter - has been put away now until about October though!

have just ordered an SX6 having seen one of the guys I played with in the last medal have one, struck me as a bargain at £70 (for the 2010 model).

Losttheplot has the Stadry and I know he was very happy with it, just I expect I still use the leccy trolley in bad weather so didnt see the point in paying extra for the waterproof version

Yea, we're bestest pals now, dontcha know :D

Glad you're happy with it since you bought it on my recommendation! Last time I recommended something (a mobile phone) the bloke hated it. Felt a bit guilty!

jock, some of these new bags are stupid light, mine weighs around 3.7lbs. One thing ive noticed is when you get 4 people carrying the round seems alot quicker. Im convinced its them dam trolleys that make slow play and nothing else.

Park the trolley to look for ball....
look for ball....
find ball miles from trolley so have to go back to get trolley...

never again would i trolley it until im actually old enough and broke enough not to be able to carry a full round.

Oi! I'm not old (at 31) but am certainly broke enough! :(

I realise the cons of using a trolley but if it makes life easier for my knees and shoulder then it's well worth it for me.

I don't think trolleys cause slow play. I think golfers with a lack of awareness cause slow play, in that they are not ready to play when it is their turn, leave their bag the wrong side of a green, stand on a green marking cards etc.

If everyone in the group has a trolley but are all ready to play when it is their turn how are they any slower than those carrying their clubs?

I've been carrying this month (4 times thus far) because my trolley broke and my knees and ankles are killing me. I might be forced to go back to a trolley.

I use the Titleist StaDry carry bag.

It's a really good bag and comfy to carry, quite light too.
Plenty of space for waterproofs and clubs fit it well. The hood is large too which doesn't pull tight on your driver like some other bags do. Fully waterproof.

I've only had it 2 months but can't fault it.

I paid £110 for mine, not sure what price your looking at though but I googled it and the price I paid was really competitive.

I bought a titleist sx6 bag at the start of the season, really nice light bag. But I've just bought a cheap trolley and a Nike cart bag which is far easier for me playing 18 holes. Feel alot fresher when I've finished my round.

Jacko.. it wasnt a personal attack. Im 31 and carrying big injuries from my previous sport.

Left knee has no ACL & PCL, Both Lateral ligaments have stretched to the cartlidge wearing away, basically the knee is shot, that coupled with 2 repaired broken hips from when i was 14. what have i learned, carry whats needed and not what you may need in even of a snow storm or flash flood and its fine.

I know it wasn't an attack mate, didn't mean to sound defensive.

I share your knee woes believe me! That doesn't help but the main issue I have is with my shoulder, dislocated it years ago and is aching after every round carrying now.

Jacko?? Heee Heee, Shamon Mother****** :)

As soon as I recover from the damage of my recent golf related spending spree Im going to join you and get me one of those, good to hear its doing a good job for you. I enjoy playing in the rain so fully waterproof is a must.

Out of interest have you played with it in the rain yet? And if so how did it hold up?
