Hi
As many of you know I have just changed golf clubs. I found that as my new club is very hilly I was struggling to push my trolley all the way round without feeling absolutely knackered. Hubby suggested I try carrying my clubs to see if that made a difference. initially my thoughts were "are you mad" but having given it abit of thought I agreed and so he bought me a new carry bag.
What a different, I have carried now for 7 rounds and haven't felt tired at all and even think it has helped my game slightly.

What do others think?
do you carry or use a trolley?
Are there any benefits to either method?

I carry, use a pull trolley or a leccy trolley.

Tend to use the leccy for comps and 18 hole knock ups. The pull trolley for quick 18's and carry for practise sessions on the course or a few holes after work.

carry all day long for me.

can walk straight over greens and one less peice of equipment to set up and carry around in your car.

people think that the clubs strain your back, but this could not be further from the truth. i would forget they were there if they were not clattering so much.

Barb, good for you :D
I'm almost 50 and I still carry.
There are however some people who need help walking 4 miles and for them an electric trolley or buggy is essential. If you can carry, go for it girl :D

I love to carry but have found it too much effort (no really) with my diabetes and get too tired. I'm not concentrating and hit bad shots coming home which was the reason I got an electrc trolley (who's make I'm not allowed to promote anymore!)

Let me help you out a bit. (Especially for those that might have missed it.)

Do you carry a whole set?
I like taking a lightweight bag with reduced set
(3-wood, 7 wood, 5,7,9,SW putter)and limited extra clothing.
think I'd peg out if I carried the whole lot - must be keeping you fit!

As Homer has stated, I am also Diabetic, so energy loss over 18 holes with carry bag will kill me, I liked carrying, but loading up with energy drinks and food is not great for my health either. I also suffer with a Prolapsed Disc, which is the other reason I use a Leccy Trolley, Disc problem started when I was 19, so not an old man guys :D Not yet anyway ;)

Leccy trolley for me. Love to carry, and can do the odd round (Leatherhead, when HTL played his joker - didn't you know there was a trolley ban? No, and I only have a cart bag with me - Note Smiffy, I still shot a better score), but due to neck, back and knee problems long term carrying is past me now.

electric trolley but have just started carrying too.
this is in preparation for next years society trip to 'forn parts' (ie Scotland) since as we're flying, the trolley will have to stay at home.

I quite like it and am getting used to it, but then my track is pretty flat, tbh a billiard table has more lumps.

I'll always use the trolley for comps though.

Just started using an electric trolley as carrying was going my back in and if there is a chance of rain I ended up feeling like a mule, electric trollies are the way forward.

Carry every time for me, I have a trolley but have only used it once. I find it much handier.....the clubs go everywhere with me, you know into ditches, thick outcrops of trees, farmers fields..... :o :D

Has to be trolley for me, Theres loads of upside's to it and specially now we coming into winter and tbh we ant in the best county for weather so carrying rain gear in the bag is a big help.

I could prob sit here all day thinking of the upsides but i wont i just think i prefure to use a trolley.

Electric trolley for me.
I suffer from dodgy knees (years of football) and my ankles really ache after a round.
Carrying a bag causes both to hurt.
Using the trolley at least saves my knees, but my ankles still hurt.
Damn getting old

I think only real advantage of a trolley for me is that you can take more clothing options without being weighed down. Effort of carrying seems nothing compared with heaving big bag and trolley in and out of car.

Just wait for winter and carrying all your waterproofs an umbrella and the other crap for winter over 18 holes not forgetting walking a course in winter takes more energy due to the soggy condictions.
