Hadn't hit a ball since football pre-season started (start of July) but the missus told me we were playing golf today - It's her birthday so there was no way I could say no.

We get half price (reciprocal) deals at most of the local courses and she'd booked a time on The Burnside at Carnoustie - It was very busy with tourists and locals so wasn't fastest round (about 3hrs 40) but the forecast rain never came.

Played poorly on way out but found something at start of back nine and hit ball really well on last seven holes - but the thing I really wanted to comment on was the greens - reasonably rapid and absolutely silky smooth - everything on the correct line went in - after more than a couple of months without hitting a ball I'd expect a few three putts - not one, an absolute pleasure to putt on - well worth the £22 each we paid to play.

Bargain!!

Did them both a few years back and preferred the Burnside to the Championship. Maybe the wind and rain around the Championship had something to do with that.

The Burnside has the best par 3's on the complex, always enjoyed playing it and a bargain at that price

Played it about 7 years ago as couldn't afford the Champ course at the time, and I didn't feel my game was up to it.
Now that my game is in better shape, I cant wait to get up there again for the 2016 GM trip

Playing the Championship course in the next couple of weeks, so if we have time after might have a few on here as well.... rude not as its free;)

I played the Championship on Monday. Very quiet. I played on my own so no pressure. Started at 10.20am. No one behind. It was like millionaires golf !!!!! Fantastic experience. Worth every penny. No wind just rain. Chuffed with 91.
