Car prices

Anyone know where I can look up used car prices ?

To get accurate prices you will need someone in the trade. Are you looking to sell? Autotrader is ok to gauge pricing, but regional variants can be quite high imho.

What are you selling? i have to sell a freelander for my Bro in law that has moved to the states, i hate selling cars privately.

Looking to buy, no trade in so cash deal.

Hopefully be able to negotiate better price if I know how low to start

Smiffy may well help, as long as what you buy is either at full whack off his forecourt, or a heads up for buying elsewhere. Rumour has it he is one of the good guys......

Where's his garage ?
If its local I could walk round for a look, if not I'm stuffed til I get a new car

If you are going to buy from a stealer err I meant dealer then it is best to wait towards the last 2-3 days of the month. The salesmen might not have reached their targets and will come down a bit further to get a sale. Its a numbers game with them, I saved a grand on the screen price by waiting until the 28th to negotiate got knocked back on that day but got a call on the 30th and said I could have the car for the price I wanted to pay.

What are you looking to buy and how much have you got to spend Spongebob?

Going to test drive a 1.0 ecoboost focus on weds.
Its a 14 plate with 22 on the clock, up for 11.5.

He sort of offered me a brand new one too as the new model is out, said I could get that for around 13, but I haven't got that sort of cash.

Wifes after new car too as she's got a new job and is going to start commuting again

Have two relations in car trade. Both main dealers.sorry to say cash is not king anymore,as most can only accept about £6,000 in cash to stop fraud and money laundering.they make more on finance and selling gap insurance.

How does it perform ?
My first thought was that it would be undercooked, and I tried to find th1.6T.

Next model coming out is the 1.5T so did they get the power wrong ?

I was really dubious when I got in it for a test drive, and then after 10 minutes I knew this was the car for me. Handling is superb, probably the best handling car in its class. It has plenty of poke as well, I have the 125Ps version in a TitX variant which has all the toys. There is an overboost or whatever Ford call it and you can actually feel it kick in, this car is actually faster than the Corsa SRI that it replaced. I only knock around the doors and have yet to take it on a longish run but I still get 40 mpg around town. It has a nice slick 6 speed box mated to the engine, and honestly it is a superb pairing.

I never thought I would see me driving a little 999cc engine car, especially something the size of the Focus, but times do change and I think Ford have a winner with this engine. They even stick this engine in the B-Max and C-Max cars as well.

have a look at this link FOCUS and click on the video review underneath the "part exchange accepted" and that guy does not work for Uncle Arnie, he is an independent reviewer.

So what did you end up paying ?

The car I'm looking at I the zetec, not the titanium, so down a level.

Good luck with that, I was a pure cash buyer when we bought our Qashqai, went to about 4 dealers and even called a few more, no one would budge more than about £300. And we're talking about spending £8k too. Its not as if I was trying to bargain £500 off a £2k Fiesta or anything.

The car I test drove was up for £14,999 on the screen, a 5 month old TitX. I told the salesman I was interested in the car but would be sticking my Corsa in PX and paying the rest in cash. After the test drive I said OK lets do a deal, what will you give me for my car and I will pay the rest in readies. I had a figure of £7500 for my car (which was optimistic as WBAC offered my £7000) and I also had £6500 in the bank. After a talk with the manager the salesman came back with the deal which was my car plus £8000.

Told him quite politely that was not going to happen, I have a maximum of £6500 and that is it, so I walked. Two days later I was actually going to look at another Focus at Jennings when he rang me and said the manager would give me the deal I wanted if I bought the car today. Drove back and done the deal and also haggled a full tank out of them.

I don't know if they took money off the screen price or they undervalued my trade in but I saved £1000 if all the figures were correct what he came up with. The annoying thing was when I went back to the dealers to enquire about some car mats my car was outside with a £9999 sticker on it, bloody cheek.

Has the Focus you are interested in got the 125 PS or 100 PS engine ????. I know the 125 version is pretty pokey but I never drove the 100 as I couldn't find a TitX with that engine.
