Been to Manchester today to do a bit of Crimbo shopping. First car park was 4 hrs max £9. 4 hrs was not long enough so off we went in search of another car park. Found another 100 yds down the rd. An NCP car park. One way in. Got to barrier. £22 for 4 hours. Sweet mother and Mary. Tash did a U turn and said shove it. Ended up paying £11 for 5 hours but soddin Eck no wonder some town centres are dying on there buttocks.

Try London meter/pay by phone parking especially if your diesel isnt Euro6. Up to £4.90 an hour plus 50% surcharge for non Euro6 diesels, and thats if you can find a space.
NCP's and the like are probably worse.....and no safer

My recent experiences with parking:
Brighton NCP 5hrs- £27
Maidstone fremlins shopping centre 45mins - £5
Lincoln multi story £6 - 3hrs
Bluewater - £0, 11hrs... Including shopping, dinner & cinema.

Its getting very expensive to keep a car on the roads and use it.

How can a shopping centre get away w ith charging £5 for 45 minutes? Surely it deters people from shopping there. For example the Cribbs Causeway shopping mall outside Bristol is free to park.

More relaxing to park in one of the tram car parks and buy a day tram ticket.

No free parking anywhere near Maidstone Town centre. The car park price for the Fremlins shopping centre is extortionate but peoole have to pay if they cant get in the other multi story. Thats one reason so many people drive further up the motorway to Bluewater, a its huge more shops and free parking no matter how long your there

The car parks in Nottingham are daylight robbery.
The Park&Rides are good, but the tram system is excellent- getting you into the heart of the city in the quickest time possible.

It’s not am out of town shopping centre, but an in town shopping development that has multi-storey parking within its boundaries. It’s parking complements the other in town parking within Maidstone.

Bluewater parking was deliberately restricted in numbers when it was built, with the thought process of a 4 hour turnover of parking spaces.
Of course, they got that bit wrong;)

£1 an hour in Ayr £4 a day.
Loads of free parking 500 yards from town centre.
Free parking at the big OOT shopping malls in Glasgow
Smaller towns in the Borders and the North of England have free 2hour display card systems which are great

That doesn’t stop the owners leaving their car there all day

But they would still have to pay to be there all day.
I was thinking more of someone parking for 45 mins while they do their weekly shop and getting free charging. That would make paying £5 for 45 minutes more bearable if you were getting around £20 worth of free 'petrol'

But you know when something is “free”, people will gorge on it without consideration for others.
