Are there any paintshop pros on here by any chance?

30-40 cars got keyed in our street last night including both of ours and just wanted to ask if the surface of both the lacquer and paint is broken does that mean a re-spray as I assume it's beyond anything t-cut/touching up could repair properly?

It depends if the paint is metallic or strait colour, if it's metallic then you can't touch it in it'll need spraying. This is what I do for a living and Iv'e managed to touch-in, flat and polish some, but with metallics all you can do is flat the lacquer. It is surprising what will flat out of the lacquer though, Iv'e got some fairly deep scratches out this way and it's always worth a try before painting. Try sounding out a bodyshop, they'll be able to tell what might flat out and what will need spraying.
Oh and if it's a Nissan it will need spraying because their lacquer is generally quite thin, so makes the above method tricky :mmm:

Thanks for the replies. Been to a paint shop tonight that was recommended to me and both cars need to be painted.

Easy come, easy go...

Feel your pain. Got up this morning and could see in daylight the clout mine had taken at the club last night. Not just scuffed paint but cracked the lacquer on the bumper so it won't be cheap if I bother. And Mrs BiM wonders why I won't buy a new one…..
