Hi guys,can you help.
I have a bmw 330d
The fob has stopped working for no reason.
It was all fine,it now clicks and the lights flash but none of the doors will open.
I can open the door with the key part, and the boot will open, but the passenger side and the rear doors wont open at all,not even from the inside.
However the driver door will lock off the fob.
The warranty ran out 5 days ago,the garage have said they will have a look, but i know its going to cost me,unless someone can help.
Hears hoping thx

My mate is a BMW technician/mechanic. If you don't get any joy I'll give Ian a shout.

One of my fobs died.

Scarily the replacement cost was uneconomical for me.

I know you can buy the fobs (used), put the "key" bit in it and have an independent BMW garage re-programme the electronic bit.

Beware if you go this route, some "fobs" on ebay are just the shells.
Some fobs of ebay are also as broken as yours and mine.

My recommendation would be to look up an independent service place and ask them.

As above, if the driver door is locking/unlocking from the remote its not the remote thats faulty. It is more likely to be a relay or control module.
Also note that used keyfobs can often not be reprogrammed. Instead you need a blank and have it paired.
Having had an ecu issue with my 320 E46 I managed to aquire the OBD2 software snd connector to do it myself and it will not allow a programmed chip to be re-programmed.

This problem was all doors not locking/unlocking using the RCL remote. OP states the driver door still operates from the remote.
Fuse going would sever power to all locks. Few people on there had similar problems and was door actuator (control solenoid).
Best bet is to find someone with OBD2 scanner and see if there is a control module fault. If not then relays would be my bet.

Read the bimmerforums OP, it's pretty much identical to our mans. It's worth trying a fuse than paying for an actuator only to find our the Golf Forums BMW 'pert was wrong.

I did read it, especially the part about having to use the key to open the door. As this is controlled by the barrel mechanism and not the electronic control system it will always happen with the correct key. OUR OP states he can use the remote to open the drivers door which is done electronically. There is a major difference, so while it may sound like the same issue, it's not. (e.g car won't start despite turning over. Two faults, no fuel to common rail (blockage or fuel pump issue) and no voltage to DIS Pack... pretty much identical symptom.)

I ain't trying to be this 'pert you allude to (I presume this is street for expert) but having had two BMW's (E46 and E92) that are fitted with the same control system and have inherent problems, admitted by BMW that the solenoids fault really easily, and trying to give the guy as best advice I can, sorry bout that, for a moment I though that's what we were supposed to do. The easy answer is not always the logical one based on info supplied. Get a lesson doesn't work for everything in other words.

Oh, and I did not advice to buy an actuator, I actually advised getting it tested on OBD2.

Can't help with the technical side but have knowledge about how vehicle manufacturers manage their warranty policy.

The policy that ran out 5 days ago, was it the original VM's policy from new ?

if so there is probably a funding solution available.

My old 330d started blowing the central locking fuse, then the actuators went in the doors, then the central locking module thing that's under the fuse box went. Iirc you can upgrade the fuse to a higher rating with no problems and this can sort it...
